I've lost one stone... help me keep going!

Hello,

I've managed to lose one stone over the past month, through low carb, intermittent fasting (eating between 12pm and 8pm) and swimming/10k steps.

Over the past week I've plateaued and hovered around the same half a pound.

PLEASE help me keep going! For context, I have several more stone to lose to be healthy and happier, so one stone is genuinely just the start.

It would be so easy to throw it all in right now. I have a lifetime's history of yo-yo dieting and binging, and the pandemic really didn't help. My weight is the one thing in my life that brings me down. But I am determined this time (like I always am :-/). Thank you Smile

PS I was really inspired by a recent weight loss thread where people shared their stories, so thank you! I just need a specific kick up the bum!

This was the thread that helped me, by the way:

I've lost 18lbs over 9 weeks of eating 800-900 calories a day with 200 calories more on gym days. In this 9 weeks I have lost between 5lbs (week 1) and a gain of 2lbs (week 4) with a couple of maintains thrown in. There is no rhyme nor reason to when I lose or not, I do the same thing each week with no cheating. It's just my body. I'm happy that I'm in the right trajectory. If I continue to diet I WILL lose, if I don't then I won't, simple.

Well done, shows it's worth keeping on keeping on!

Well done! I’m not quite at a stone yet- gone from. 81kg on April 26th to 75.2kg today (12s10 down to (11s12) but that gets my BMI from 26.7 to 24.8 today so I’m feeling chuffed. My target is about 65kg which I’ve been before post breastfeeding etc but gradually crept up over the years. I’m mid 40s and find it definitely goes on much easier than it used to!
I’m going for overall healthyish meals but nothing at all between meals and find I’m actually less hungry between meals than when I was snacking all the time. I’ve been injured so only just getting back into running but can manage a slow 5k when I get the motivation. Also looking at online exercise classes- I did theBetty Rocker 30d challenge in March but was still eating crap so didn’t lose any weight.
Keep it up, I know how easy it is to slip back and know once I do it will take me ages to get back on to it, so I’m determined to keep going!

Well done! Sounds like you're doing brilliantly. And thank you for the encouragement, I just need to remember this doesn't happen overnight Thanks

I've lost a stone OP, another two to go. One of the 'diet' books I read said effectively: stop beating yourself up about not losing the weight so quickly - you didn't put it on overnight and you won't lose it overnight! Which is true, and what I try to remind myself of when the loss is very slooooow...

Well done on getting this far! Is there anything you could tweak to help get past this pesky plateau?! Add to the exercise and/ or adjust your way of eating?

Yes. It took ages to put it on, it won't go in weeks. Still goes off faster than it went on.

Try to not just diet for weight loss, but also look at building some good sustainable habits so you are less likely to yo-yo. Learn the right portions even for after diet, find good swaps for healthier food wtc. These things can stick with you for ever
