Bloated & fed up..

RareSapphire · 10/05/2021 21:39

I'm so sick & tired of the way I feel & look.
I have zero energy & motivation.
I have 2 debilitating health conditions that have limited my mobility.
In the last 2 years my health has gone downhill, without dreaded help of covid.
I feel bloated & fed up.
What can I do to relieve this feeling?
Please be kind ♡

I see no one answered yet so I will try😁

Firstly, speak to your doctor about what help is available and what is ok with your condition.

And then do small changes. Change a diet a bit, that will stop the bloating. I found proper bone broth being great help. Get some multivitamins as well.
Have you had bloods done? Like vitamins and minerals?

Depending what you eat normally, look for what bloats you the most and reduce it. It takes bit of time sometimes. It can get better

@SchrodingersImmigrant

Thank you for replying!

I've spoke with the doctors, it wasn't much help really..

I have been referred to Weight Watchers.
I've only ever tried Slimming World so I have no idea what to expect.

I'm thinking of keeping a food diary & seeing if I can work things out from that.

I don't eat much unhealthy stuff. In the evening I'll have a little piece of chocolate but other than that's it.

Healthy stuff can cause proper bloating too.

Nicd natural yogurt and generally a probiotic friendly food helps. As I said on another thread, kefir yogurt is amazing imo (promise oli don't have shares) and it's also full of good gut bacteria.
I had to go gluten free for a while until I sorted my gut. Now I can eat pizza without issues! So don't worry you will find your nemesis and sort it. The diary is a great idea! Mark against it level of bloatness and it should help finding out the culprit. Can you do some exercise? Movibg helps digestive system as well.

Generally when it comes to weight (since you mention looks), healthy food can sometimes be pretty calorie heavy. I got fat on salads😳...
I had way too big portions...

If i were you i first sort out the digestive because that should also change your energy levels and then move onto weightloss in much better mood

I agree with SI, there's a diet called The Dirty Diet which you may want to look at alongside Weight Watchers. It's about adding probiotics to your diet. Every day you have a portion of something live, like blue cheese, yogurt, or live sauerkraut. You repopulate your gut in the process.

I'm doing slimming world and find constipation a problem. Eating kiwi with the skin on 😱 helps! At first, in yogurt to soften the hair, but now I just eat them as they are. It's helped a lot with that sluggish feeling.

Obviously that depends on your conditions.
I have fibromyalgia and find keeping moving is really important. It was hard to get active after a few years of pain, but it's helped me a lot. I have a trampette in the house which I bounce gently on watching tv- it doesn't trigger joint and muscle pain the way impact exercises does.

Ha! Never hear of dirty diet, but I have been doing it.

Digestive system is very important for overall health and energy levels. I am big fan of fermented veg and make my own, because stuff in shops is pasteurised otherwise it would explode if out of fridge. Which reminds me, I didn't burp my onions today👀

picklemewalnuts · 12/05/2021 18:15

What works for you, fermentation wise? I find I just don't like the taste of a lot of it. I don't like kefir, I'm avoiding sugar and alcohol so water kefir and ginger bug don't work for me.

I make sauerkraut, but found things like carrots just unpalatable.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 12/05/2021 18:43

I like all of them.
Cauliflower. Smells like fart, taste lovely. Carrots, cucumbers, onion for salads, red or whote cabbage, aubergine, tried green tomatoes, not that keen. Chilies blended into chili sauce (carrot, lemon, chilies few spices) Wowza. It seems to make them hotter😂 I did brussel sprouts for Christmas. Everyone actually liked them😂

Haven't tried things like bell pepper because i heard they are quite temperamental because of sugar content, which was probably the thing with the tomatoes too, I guess.

There are lots of fermenters on instagram and they make some interesting things including sauces.

It's not to everyone's taste though.

I've seen mustard, that would appeal. I think peppers would get a bit soggy.

Trying own chilli sauce is an idea- but then I'd only use it in cooking, and that kills the microbes anyway. Hmm. Food for thought.

picklemewalnuts · 12/05/2021 19:31

Perhaps I'll try onion and cucumber. Can't go wrong with onion!

You can if you chop large wuantities ever so finely so take for ever and it's super fresh so you end up crying for an hours😂

It's awesome as a side or mixed into mayo or yogurt as a dip. Make sure to use less spicy chillies😁 It's delicious.
