Need to lose 26.5kg!

I'm horrified to have just weighed myself for the first time in ages and have to lose 26.5 kg to get down to a healthy weight (60kg). Can't believe how much I weigh, but I'm motivated to get started on losing it. Is anyone else starting out on a large weight loss too? Any advice or motivation appreciated!

HI Panpig
Similar height/weight/target - except not sudden weight gain
I've decided I'm going to be sensible for the next couple of weeks (holiday, restaurants open, birthday_ then start properly at the beginning of June.
Will definitely be low-carbing. and 99% decided to give the "Second Nature" program a go.

Am also going to name change to something more positive!
Good luck with your journey.

I’ve had to lose a shed load of weight .. over seven stone and have spent a lifetime trying to find a diet that works. The only thing that has is intermittent fasting plus it’s free .. Google for more info there’s loads.. one piece of advice: build the hours of fast up slowly .. ok second piece .. try and break fasts with protein not carbs or sugar as they make you over eat

Hi OP. I'm 3 months ahead of you. Started mid-February on a mission to lose 25kg to take me to 60kg. I'm now 12kg down and feeling loads better for it. It's been bloody hard though.

I've cut out bad things (wine, crisps, cake, chocolate) but the most important thing for me is portion size. I started hard by really cutting down carbs too. The first month was the hardest, going to bed every night feeling hungry.

But I've changed habits now and I'm determined to keep going. I'm also way more self-restrained so can treat myself occasionally now too.

Good luck - you've got thi

I’m on a 20 kilo weight loss journey ( to get me to a healthy BMI) and am currently 14 kilo down . I started January 1st. I don’t feel like I did much. I cut out wine , takeaway & junk food. I let myself eat whatever else though but overall I’m pretty healthy and love to cook . I took up running ( again )as well . I run about 20-25 kms a week which seems like a lot but I use to run marathons so my body is use to that . The running is more for my mental health but the weight loss has been an added benefit . I’m also nursing a 6 month old but I don’t know if that massively helped with my weight loss . I’m eating tons as nursing makes me hungry ( and so does running ). I’m actually surprised by how much weight I have lost as I don’t feel like I made massive changes even though I clearly did . 20 kilo was a daunting number but I’m more than half way there now and it’s been easier than expected !!

I was in your position this time last year. I’m now 26kg down and a healthy bmi (23). I hope to lose around another half stone over the next couple of months do work in progress.

I logged everything in mfp and cut out alcohol apart from special occasions. Exercise wise I started with walking but did C25k and now run around 25 miles a week. My advice would be if you have a slip up don’t give up, just get back on it the following day. Weight will come off fairly quickly at first which will be motivating but when things slow down don’t let that discourage you. Be in it for the long haul. A gradual loss is more sustainable.

Good luck, you can definitely do it!
