How to lose weight & tone up without going on a plan diet?

I’ve let myself go over the past year, hidden away working at home. I’ve put on 10lbs & I’d like to aim to lose a stone. I also want to get fitter & tone up my wobbly bits. Currently all of my summer clothes are too tight.

I don’t want to sign up to a ‘diet’ plan as I want it to be sustainable & I want to make healthy changes a way of life.
However I would like something to follow for ideas on how to achieve the changes, so maybe some sort of facebook group for healthy eating & exercise tips. I need motivation and ideas otherwise I won’t do it.

Can anyone suggest anything please? I have done Team RH before and enjoyed the facebook group for ideas & the workout videos but I found the food logging & weighing etc a bit intense.

Plan meals in advance, cook from scratch.

Make subtle replacements, my favourite recently has been to replace rice with cauliflower rice, it does the job and a fraction of the calories.

For many people it's portion control.

If you eat same food like now, but take 20% off, or even just 10%, it makes difference without actual dieting.

Check out fitnessblender on youtube. Some good workouts there

I always think drinking loads of water makes a big difference too , good for skin , helps the bowels and makes me feel full so less likely to snack
Sugar free squash in differing flavours makes it all palatable. Good luck !

Great advice so far. Cut way way back on processed sugar. Strength training is brilliant for fitness and toning - loads of free workouts on YouTube and you don't need any equipment for lots of them

I sound very similar to you, OP. I've always been a naturally healthy weight (slim, although not extraordinarily so). Over the past year I've put on nearly a stone, and although I'm not visibly overweight it doesn't feel right for me and my old jeans don't fit! I am also unfit and would like to improve tone.

I've been doing 16:8 for around 10 days and already the extra weight around my waist is disappearing. I'm also doing C25k (currently on week 3) which I have done successfully before. Both 16:8 and C25k work for me because they are straightforward and I don't have to think about it too much. I don't really think of intermittent fasting as a diet, more a way of eating, although I do find I naturally want to make healthier choices when I'm following it.

Now I need to find something to tone my upper body! The running helps a bit, but I agree with the PP that some strength training is needed.

Good luck!
