My dd 3 and a half has told me " she doesn't like my fat " I'm really hurt but don't like my overweight body either.
This isn't baby weight this is pure greed and have about 3 stone to lose, she has said it more than once too, I really want to lose the weight but have tried on and off for over 2 years! Any suggestions or advice would be great as emotionally and physically struggling with it x

Hey there 🙋🏻‍♀️

Why don’t you come and join us on this thread? Lots of friendly, supportive people there, who totally get what you’re saying:

My best bit of advice is to try not to focus too much on where you are now. Negative feelings like shame or disgust very rarely keep anyone motivated long term. Accept where you are now for what it is. It’s something temporary that you can do something about and you should feel proud of yourself for trying to change, in spite of not quite managing it on previous attempts. That shows will power and if you can hold on to that feeling, you will get to where you want to be!

That’s the end of my peptalk. See you on the thread (no pressure, only if you’re happy to be there!)

3 year olds can be so harsh. My 3 year old came up to me yesterday and said ‘mummy why is your tummy SO BIG??!’ And wobbled it. Bloody cheek Grin I’ve actually lost 2 stone 4 since the start of January so it’s not even that big anymore!

I really struggled with the excess weight for several years and got into a cycle of trying to diet, depriving myself too much, binging on crap, then feeling like a failure and carrying on. Then repeat.

What has worked for me is going onto a tdee calculator, working out how many calories I need, then minus 500 per day. For me that’s 1200 calories and I’ve stuck to that every day (some days a little over) since January. I’ve weighed and logged all my food on Fitbit so I can easily keep track of what I’ve had.

This has been a revelation for me. I’m eating enough that I don’t feel deprived. I can eat what I want (within reason!) if I fancy a slice of carrot cake I’ll have it, I will just make sure I have a soup or salad for dinner or something to make up for it. It’s got me out of that cycle of thinking I can’t have some things, the caving and then giving up.

Good luck to you, I hope you find something that works for you and don’t listen to the 3 year old too much Flowers
