Low fat query, please?

Apologies if this has been asked before, but I am a little confused and wondered if one of you MNetters could help?

I have had a gallstone removed and waiting for a gallbladder removal op. I have been told to go on a low fat diet.

When looking at food labels - for example; tuna per 100g is 9g of fat, of which saturates 1.5g.

Is it the “total fat” (in this case 9gram) I add up for my daily allowance of 30gram, or is it the “fat that saturates” (1.5gram) value?

Thank you in advance.

It is the total fat. Whether it's saturated fat or not isn't relevant. When I was awaiting my gallbladder op, I found that I couldn't eat more than 10g of fat in one sitting without giving me pain.

Thank you for your answer! I did think 30 gram of only saturated fat was too much.
Now I know it is all fat - thanks again! 👍

No problem! It was a slog. I had to wait 8 months for the op, and I was very very strict with my diet all that time. Lost a load of weight, but put it back on after, of course. Hmm I'd definitely advise against ever using up your 30g of fat at one sitting!
