Fallen off the wagon

Just need to a quick vent and to put down in a public forum how disappointed I am in myself! I'd been so good and so motivated for weeks and shifted half a stone, then along came mother's day weekend and I've completely fallen off the wagon! I'm feeling tired and demotivated today and allowed the weekend's festivities roll over into today. I was also chronically under prepared with having healthy food to hand and a plan, which is always my downfall.

So it'll be a trip to the shops tonight after work and planning the rest of my week better this evening.

How does everyone cope with slip ups?

I have totally changed my perspective on time / weight loss and realised there is no wagon.
The past does not exist any more, except in our memories. There is only NOW. Not next Monday, not tomorrow morning, NOW. Thinking this way has stopped me considering I have ruined my day / week whenever I have an unplanned meal.
When I was still losing weight, I used to ask myself "if I were a size 10, would I eat it?". Well, if it is not good enough for size 10 me, it is not good enough for size 16 me.

Ultimately you are the only one in control of what you put into your mouth, but I hope this helps.

First, don't beat yourself up. because the world is a stressful place ATM.Flowers

Second, try not to see your weight loss "journey" (apologies for using barftastic "j" word) in terms of being on or off the wagon but more as a zig zag line on a chart, whose overall direction nonetheless is downwards.

Could you reframe it as being kind to your future self (equally pukeworthy expression but ykwim) and consider what you are eating over a whole week, in other words, maybe ring-fence Tues and Thurs this week to eat a little less and walk a little more to counteract the extra calories consumed over the weekend. Every little helps!

That's a good perspective, thank you.

Remember that the odd slip up in a long period of following your diet will make no more difference to your weight than the odd day of eating healthily would in a long period of over-eating.
