How have you overcame this? I have been the same weight for 2 weeks now, I have lost a stone so far but still have 2 left to go! I've been running 3x a week and using mfp

Hi, I feel for you as it can be so frustrating. Well done on your weight loss so far!
I’ve lost just over 2 with about the Same still to lose. When this happened to me I found it was cos I had got a little too relaxed with things. Make sure you are tracking/ measuring your food accurately: so every little bite. Also worth mixing up your meals as sometimes our bodies seem to like a change.

InsaneLockdowner · 26/02/2021 10:25

Yes. I'm still 2 stone 4lbs over weight having lost 3 stone.
I'm weighing my portions. Logging exercise.
4 weeks I've stayed the same. Well 8ve actually gained a pound and lost that, so now 4 weeks I've not see the benefits of my efforts

I'm on a very very strict diet and gVe no deviated at all. Thus oast week I've cut my daily calories even further by 159 calories a day. I've not got much more room for cutting down as already on a low calories in take. I've lowered my porridge portion and cut out the miniscule amount of pasta/carbs I'd been allowing myself 3 times a week.
I've upped my exercise thus week too.
Normally I do 45 minutes if Cross Trainer on an uphill climb programme and 30 minutes of bike before 30 minutes of toning/weights work. I've upped my cross training to an hour and my bike to 50 minutes.
I normally walk 8 to 12 miles every day but this week doing a minimum of 12 miles a day and doing the uphill routes more. I even took myself out for another walk at 9pm last night to get over the 12 mile threshold I've set myself.

What's worrying me, us I've no idea how I'll be able to continue this much exercise once life returns to normal as its several hours out if my day.
Fingers crossed I reap the benefits this week.

I put on lockdown weight, and wanted to be rid of it by Easter.

I lost a lot of weight in 2017, and kept it off until the rise this winter. I was losing it nicely on target for the first weeks of the year.

I've stalled this week. No idea why.

But one thing I learned from first successful weight loss, and which I am reminding myself of frequently not, is the idea of lag and whoosh

Lag is that it can take a little while for what you are consuming to make any difference, and that when you're talking about something as biologically complex as a human body that lag can vary wildly - can be a few days or many days. And it's during the lag that you just have to keep going.

Because it's so often followed by the whoosh - those madly pleasant days when weight just seems to melt off rapidly in a short amount of time.

Just hang on in there!

It's frustrating isn't it! I started working out more so I'm not sure if that has an effect, I'm not too clued up on the science of it all, I know muscle weighs more than fat though, weighed myself this morning I've lost 1lb this week so hopefully I'm out of the plateau now, good luck to everyone on their journeys!

Remember hormones will influence it.
Try drinking loads of water- your gut can get sluggish.

I went on orlistat from the GP. Not for everyone, but it worked for me.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 27/02/2021 12:37

I've had this. And then it suddenly deopped and kept going normally.
It depends on so many factors. Like with me it's salty food. It can also be hoemons and so many other things. It was very demotivating at forat but now I just roll my eyes at my body and wait. It always budges.

Keep on. Pound is great!

Passthebubbly · 27/02/2021 13:49

I feel your pain. I lost 16lbs in January and then it stopped early feb despite me upping the exercise and keeping going with the diet. It’s starting to move slowly now and I still have a stone to go so trying so so hard to not let it demotivate me. Bloody annoying though.

MatHancockLovesMyTits · 27/02/2021 17:18

Struggling too. Still have 2 stone to shift and a BMI of 29 so really annoyed it's stopped coming off.
I'm exercising like mad and cut back even more food wise.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 27/02/2021 17:25

It's like there is something in the air. Most people I know and many here seemed to have some weeks with no weight movement now. It seems to be breaking now though

Passthebubbly · 27/02/2021 18:08

Fingers crossed we all drop a good amount this week as I can’t cut anymore than I have. Perhaps that’s our trouble not eating enough? Anyone else scared to up their calories?

SchrodingersImmigrant · 27/02/2021 18:10

My trouble were probably caused by overconsumption of pomegranates (we think)😂

fabulousspider · 27/02/2021 18:11

has anyone looked into the benefits of fasting for sustaining keeping up with more weightloss? It works differently to counting calories. Also, you'll think I'm crazy for this but I have this theory that leading up to a full moon (waxing cycle) it's harder to lose weight. When it's waning (basically from tomorrow) it's easier to lose weight!

SchrodingersImmigrant · 27/02/2021 18:28

I am not a fasting person, but it seems to work for some.
I am not cutting further if I have a sudden plateau. My thinking is that if one week I lose a kilo and next week I lose nothing, it's impossible for it to be due to suddenly magically disappearing deficit. Usually week later I drop double.
As I said on another thread. Body is like an HP printer. If you really want it to do something it will pretend request was never made or do something else😂 So I kind of just stick it through and hope for the best

picklemewalnuts · 27/02/2021 19:13

@Mummyoftwo91 remember to measure waist, hips, arm, calf, bust.
If I haven't lost weight I measure- I will have lost cms.

Mummyoftwo91 · 27/02/2021 19:24

Good tip about measurements, I took them at the start on jan 1st and did them just now and I have lost 10 inches all over! Gained in thighs though but it just be the workouts I'm doing, it's hard to keep going when you have such a long way to go! I find myself not being happy with my loss so far as I'm overwhelmed with how much is left to go!

OP posts:
Mummyoftwo91 · 27/02/2021 19:24

@picklemewalnuts how did you get on with the orlistat?

OP posts:
SchrodingersImmigrant · 27/02/2021 19:28

I second the measurements too. One or the other, or even bith, always budge.
I had permanent marker marks on when I started😂😂😂

picklemewalnuts · 27/02/2021 19:36

Orlistat is working fine, I don't have any of the problems others mention. I eat a low fat diet anyway, on slimming world. Orlistat just takes a little bit more off (and helps prevent me getting constipated, I think).

You are doing really well- don't undermine yourself by being overly self critical. Far better to lose at a slower rate and have more established good eating habits.

I'm 2.5 stone down. 5 more to go. It took me years to get to this size, I can afford to take months to lose it!
