Hello, I'm trying to loose weight and sometimes I achieve a good result only to find out that soon my weight starts to creeping on again. it's really demoralizing. I wonder if somebody mangnaged to loose weight and keep it in a long term. It would really inspire me and probably some other people trying so hard. I know there are some stories like that published but I wonder if somebody experienced it on MN. Thank you.

Do you go on diets and then return to your normal eating habits?
How about instead of going on diets, just change your daily eating habits completely?

I try to keep it up, breadgirl but somehow it doesn't work long term. I tried no carbs after 5 and before that just gave up on crisps, cakes, buiscuits and chocolate. i loose weight within some weeks slowly, achieve something like 4 kg in 3 month and then slowly the weight starts creeping up again. It's so annoying and off putting, breadgirl. I was hoping there would be some people who achieved good results and in say 3 or 4 years time they are still in a good shape so it's not a temp measure but total transformation.

maybe suddenly coming off the crisps, cakes, etc gives an immediate result, but then it slows down?
look at other things you are eating. Are there hidden fats/sugars? .. personally, i don't believe in diet/low fat foods ..

Well, neither do I. I don't really care what's called - diet, healthy eating, sensible eating, whaever, I'm just trying to find out what could work long term.

The only thing that will work long term is to change yourself completely. ie to become the type of person who eats lots of veg and low fat protein, not a huge amount of carbs and is reasonably fit and active. Nothing else works.
WW works for me because it has made me think about what i put in my mouth but I know that I can never go back to eating unconsiously. that doesn't mean that I am on a diet for the rest of my life, it just means that I am now the type of person who eats healthily and is active.

Thank you, Carmenere.
