Joe Wicks who ghost writes his books?

I'm not losing weight but bought a book by JW just for some more variety on meals.

But he's not a chef or a trained cook so wondered who writes his books?

(I'm in the media world so know that celebs use ghost writers for a lot of their books.)

Do you know that he has a ghost writer? Just because some people have one doesn't mean everyone does. He became gmail because of his Instagram recipes and exercise routines, so he wasn't a celebrity first

I am nkt a trained chef. I could write a recipe book. Look at all the blogs etc online. Everyone is expert😂 Some people are good cooks without training and can develop recipes themselves. It's entirely possible he had a ghost writer, it's entirely possible he doesn't.
We may never know?

Bluesmartiesandpandapop · 09/01/2021 11:03

I think it's more likely he has a ghost writer than that he has somebody else writing his recipes tbh

Doyoumind · 09/01/2021 11:12

He started off with nutrition and training tips before he was famous so was always creating recipes himself. That's how he became famous. He has studied sport science and nutrition.

Never read any books by him but I don't see why he couldn't have written them. Of course there will be copywriters working on his website and app.

I used to work in the cookery book world and you're right. He'll have a recipe developer/tester and an editor who will check the recipes work and that quantities are right. He will probably suggest some recipes and they will also bring ideas for vogue-y ingredients and methods.

So he will have an idea to use, say, broccoli mash and turkey sausages in a recipe. The team will then practice the recipe several times to get the adequate boiling time for the broccoli.

He (or his team) will write the intro for the recipe together. The ideas - certainly in the early books - may come from him, but usually three or four books in they start to exhaust their ideas so are more open to collaboration. With his YouTube channel, promotional work and business interests, he just won't have time to spend on developing recipes.

The team behind Jamie Oliver is vast. Even if the author is very engaged, they just don't have the time to do the recipe devising so by the time a chef becomes a brand they will get outside help on several aspects of their books.

I know he has a degree in sports science (I do write for a living so am pretty good at doing research:) )

I also have loads of media contacts who write blogs for clients for their websites because those people are too busy doing other things to write their blogs :)

Some people like Nigella still get other people to test their recipes.

This is such an odd question. Are you asking for the name of his ghost writer? Surely the name won't mean much to anyone anyway - it's not like there are renowned ghost writers that you'd recognise if you heard who they were.

Or do you just mean you're pondering what kind of a team he has behind him?

DisgruntledPelican · 10/01/2021 06:43

He collaborated with a nutritionist on his weaning book, quite clear about that. But like others have said, he may not have a ghost writer as such - to me, that is someone who writes almost all of the copy, based on an idea or theme. He will have multiple editors, recipe testers to get his ideas and recipes shaped into a coherent book.

I don't think you need to be in media to know that celebrities often use ghost writers Grin

Not sure about now, but I know previously he didn't have a ghost writer.

He'd ask friends and employees to come up with ideas and the try them out, rework them and then pick the ones that worked the best for the book.

My friend has ghost written for him before. But pretty sure the content is his - they just tarted up the words a bit.
