How to not be hungry???

I need to loose weight I really do. I love food and I'm going to try really hard to be good and cut down. I have a busy and demanding job and I cannot focus if I'm hungry. Any top tips for things that make you feel full but aren't bad???

Increase your protein intake (snack on things like eggs/nuts/chicken) & cut down refined sugar.

@RealityCheck24601 I just ordered a diabetes cook book to address the sugar thing (I'm not diabetic - but it does worry me).

I just bloody love carbs though.

Drink more....Ideally water, it's amazing how that can satisfy you most of the time.

Be prepared and have healthy things for the occasions that you really are hungry.

Write down everything you eat.....every single thing. Use an app like my fitness pal, it's amazing how calories all add up and after a while you just don't want to "waste" calories that could go towards a bigger main meal. Well that's how it works for me!

You have to be hungry sometimes though. Remember that hunger is normal. Not the absolute starving, just normal hunger.

Wholesome food. Not the "diet snacks". That helped me feel free fuller for longer.

Try a diet that gets you into ketosis maybe? There are a few out there where you can either buy the products (Cambridge/exante etc) or you can cook everything yourself. I prefer the products as I need a diet to be rigid to stick to it. The first week is hell, I was physically sick from the hunger but on day 7 I hit ketosis and the hunger passed.

I read (on here I think) someone say that when we feel tired we don’t automatically go for a nap. We know we’ll be able to sleep later. I’m going to try to keep that in mind when I feel hungry!

@ginger good idea

When you feel hungry have a big drink of water or brush your teeth. Chew gum.

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 01/01/2021 18:44

Drink coffee: Pepsi max ! Basically caffeine stops my hunger!

SchrodingersImmigrant · 01/01/2021 18:47

That's interesting. My DH just yesterday said that coffee makes him hungry so how come I am not starving after all that coffee I drink😂

With the chewing gum, only thing I would be careful on is sweetener. Lots of it has quite unpleasant consequences, so don't go through number of packs a day

Eggs are amazing for blocking hunger (protein foods in general do I find) also plain boiled potatoes and Greek yogurt (and beans if you like them).

I believe I feel more hunger/appetite than most people... definitely used to large portions so trying to fill up on veg. There was a diet called ‘volumetrics’ years ago that advocated low calorie /high volume meals like soup, salad etc and smaller servings of more calorie dense foods, I try to keep the principles in mind

You have to get used to feeling a little bit hungry and realise it's not 'proper hunger'

Hollyhocksarenotmessy · 24/01/2021 23:30

I have 2 meals a day. Breakfast around 300 calories at 10.30, then a big dinner 900 calories around 7 or 8. I dont mind feeling a bit of hunger for an hour or so before each meal. Having a big dinner makes me feel full, and I dont wake up hungry.
