Male weight loss problems

I'm around 20 - 21st and would love to lose my belly.

I'm 6'3" so wear it better than someone who is shorter but I still don't like it.

My fiancé doesn't want to help as she really likes my belly, but I've had enough of being fat. I'm 41 now and need to change!

I also struggle as I'm a truck driver away from Monday to Friday and sometimes the food options aren't great. I currently don't have the ability to cook in my cab so am restricted to eating out :(. I work 13 - 15 hours a day so often don't feel like exercising at the end of the day.

I would just love a way to lose the weight :(

Can you not pack yourself meals to eat or buy a salad when eating out? There are plenty of healthy options out there you just have to check packets/menus and choose to have those instead of crap.

Alternatively, there's always Huel

Tried huel, but it didn't work :(

Any food I pack would have to be at ambient temp or warmer as not much room in my fridge :(

I think your lifestyle boils down to what kind of food choices you're making and how many calories you're taking in. Also, there's no reason you can't pack fresh fruit and veg to have for snacks while you're working. You could pack healthy soups in a thermos, too. It would stay hot all day.

Basic rule of calories in need to be less than calories out.

According to the TDEE calculator (I guessed your age at around 35), you will maintain your weight if you eat 2749 calories a day.

1 lb loss a week needs roughly 500 calorie deficit a day.

So you would need to eat under 2249 calories a day to lose 1lb a week.

I have been following this method since August and have lost 3 stone, it does work.

I strongly recommend using an app like my fitness pal to track all your food and drink.

You actually have a decent allowance, if you make good choices when eating out you should be able to fit in 3 good meals and some snacks.

What does a typical day of eating and drinking look like for you now.

Unfortunately I'm out all week, sleeping in me cab, so taking stuff to work daily is an issue :(

Exercise in minimal, I have 45 mins break once a day (sometimes twice) where I have to get lunch etc...

Working 13 - 15 hrs a day, then being stuck with me wagon all night. Most of it sat on me backside :(

Food wise I'm eating what I can for evening meal, lunches are wraps with a sandwich filler. Evening meals are generally not healthy as often it's a lay-by, or a truck stop with fried food etc....

Ok here's a few suggestions.

Instead of wrap with sandwich filler wishing is likely to be full of Mayo and sauces which add loads of calories how about filling the wrap (wholewheat or seeded rather than white) with:

  • chicken breast pieces and salad or low fat coleslaw
  • tuna and salad, low fat Mayo, sweetcorn

When you need to eat at a cafe/fry up type place just think about the make up of what you have on your plate.

Typical fry up - 2 rashers of bacon (110) 2 sausages (222) hash brown (140), fried egg (90), black pudding (95) fried bread (141), beans (187) mushrooms (44) - 1029 calories total.

You could have 2 slices of toast (240), with margarine (30) and 2 fried eggs (180), total 450 calories

Or

2 slices of bacon (110), double mushrooms (88), fried egg (90) and beans (187) for 475 calories

Or bacon and egg sandwich - 2 bread (240), 2 bacon (110), egg (90) - 440 calories.

Good low calorie snacks you can keep at ambient temperatures include things like beef jerky, boiled eggs, fruit, vegetables.

Could you get one of those travel kettles that plug into the dash for pot noodles, pasta mug shots, instant soup?
