Any evening eaters want to support each other in the danger hours?

I can be so good all day, eat a healthy filling decent supper and then boom the kitchen surfing starts and I can put away almost 1000 calories.

I’ve tried everything
Everything

Wonder if some group support might help us to describe how we feel when the compulsion to start the evening munchies starts and see if we can distract and support each other?

Watching this OP as I could easily have written this.post, no advice but hopefully someone can advise because like you I can be so good all day and then evening, disaster.
I walk an hour a day and it makes me feel so bad that the good I do with walking is indone every evening

joybrightnice · 28/11/2020 11:47

Oh god yes I know this feeling to well. Once the kids are in bed I've got into a habit of having a cup of tea and to many biscuits! I'd love to break the sugar habit.

Bookaholic73 · 28/11/2020 20:01

Currently replying to this while eating a bag of minstrels.
That explains it all really. Yes, I really need the support too.

Oxyiz · 28/11/2020 20:03

Yes! Its too late for me tonight though. After a long and careful day, I have just munched my way through eight chocolate biscuits and a packet of Hotel Chocolat's hot chocolate. Why? Why?!

Galwaygirl · 29/11/2020 09:11

While trying to be good I had 2 packs of crisps and some heroes, I find when I am in the house alone my trigger is to have a treat, only I have no self control, it makes me so mad! Also, with Christmas coming up I know there wl be so much rubbish around that I will find hard to resist, had porridge and cranberries for breakfast, a roast for dinner and all hell will let loose this evening, I hate it!
I have a friend who buys a bar of chocolate, divides it in 8 and has one square a night, in awe of her!

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 29/11/2020 09:17

If I brush my teeth really well, as in full two minutes, floss and mouthwash early evening I find I am much, much less likely to snack. I guess it's sort of the same as when you exercise you don't want to undo all the work you just put it

joybrightnice · 29/11/2020 10:03

How long do you think it takes to break a sugar/snacking habit?

ladygracie · 29/11/2020 10:05

It isn’t working for me at the moment but in the past I have made a rule that I can’t eat after 7 or 8 and that worked for me. I also said I couldn’t eat any crisps or chocolate rather than just having a little treat. That also worked for a while but not long term.
I would definitely like to be part of this though as the evenings are when I really struggle.

Galwaygirl · 29/11/2020 10:05

I had to see a family doctor recently because of stomach issues and she told me ot takes 4 weeks to break or make a habit. I have walked by the box of chocolates all morning and ni desire at all to pick, if it was 7pm it would be a totally different story!

LivingMyBestLife2020 · 29/11/2020 10:08

Please can I join too? I’ve put so much weight on evening snacking. I have a toddler and I’m a single parent so come evening I ‘deserve’ treats!

sociallydistained · 29/11/2020 10:13

I need this post!

Oxyiz · 29/11/2020 11:01

Good thinking HP. I will set an alarm on the phone to brush my teeth at 7pm now!

dueindecember10 · 29/11/2020 13:56

Yes, this is my problem. Can quite happily deny myself during the day. After 6pm is a whole different story.

Bookaholic73 · 30/11/2020 20:14

Evening guys. How are you getting on this evening?
For the first time in weeks, I’m not eating any junk food this evening.

HL123 · 30/11/2020 20:59

Following! I am desperate to lose 2 stone hanging on from my pregnancy (baby is 6 months now..), but seem to do ok calorie counting for a few days then just go off track, particularly with evening snacking.
I'm a single mum and find by the evening I'm so tired/bored I just want to eat and like you @LivingMyBestLife2020 feel like I deserve it!
Really want to break the habit and get my weight down and feeling so rubbish about it.

Schummakker · 30/11/2020 21:04

DH swears by brushing teeth early.

One thing I’ve found really useful is to completely avoid having unhealthy snacks in the house. Most of it is boredom eating and not actual hunger. A light babybel cheese, a spoonful or two of peanut butter IF it’s hunger.

Whatever you fancy, have it the next day so you can burn it off.

Schummakker · 30/11/2020 21:06

I’ve felt so much better and happier since I’ve avoided night time snacking if that encourages anyone.
