Weight loss without dieting

I'm sure it's much much slower progress than people who diet but I am so chuffed to have lost a stone since July. No dieting at all, just plenty of exercise and stopping overeating. Going to keep it up as I still have a stone and a half to lose but so happy to have got this far because I hate diets and if i start one at breakfast time I usually have my face in the fridge by lunchtime.

Has anyone else lost weight by just portion control and exercise?

Well done!! I would love to loose 1.5 stone but need to get my head in the game. I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been and I’m miserable but can’t stop shovelling food in my mouth!
I’m the same re your breakfast comment. My meals are all good but I cannot stop snacking and I’m not doing any exercise at the moment! Stuck in a rut!

What exercise have you been doing?

Labobo · 24/11/2020 21:41

@SendHelp30 - I've been doing 3 x bootcamps a week, 1 x yoga flow and a few short (1 hour) hill walks every week too. I really enjoy bootcamp, especially the weights.

One thing I did do was have a break from sugar at the start. And I kept track on MFP because you soon see what you eat that's very high calorie. If it's not that satisfying or enjoyable, I started to skip those snacks. And you also discover what low calorie foods you find delicious so it makes sense to eat more meals based around them.

I started just with exercise for two weeks. I knew that once I started to feel fitter, I'd eat more healthily. Might be worth trying that. Eat what you want but do some online bootcamps or HIIT or strenuous yoga flow. Then after two weeks your body will feel stronger and the muscles more engaged and alive, which gives you impetus to eat more sensibly.

These days my treats tend to be wine and crisps which I eat often or dark chocolate or creamy yoghurts which I eat sometimes. But I've stopped eating biscuits and snack bars because I don't really like them. And if I'm not hungry I don't eat. I never have breakfast just because it's breakfast time.

Greta advice, thank you! I’m going for a big walk tomorrow as DH is off work so going to use that as a starting point and aim for no bad snacks too!
Are the boot camps and yoga flow online?

Labobo · 24/11/2020 22:29

There are good bootcamps and yoga flow online. Go for Yoga with Adrienne and also look up 30-40 min bootcamps or HIIT sessions. I pay to do live sessions with local trainers on Zoom as that's more motivating - you've booked, paid and they are waiting for you to show up so no excuses.

This is exactly what I've been doing, not overeating (but still eating things I like) and gym 4 times a week.
I've lost nearly 2 stone
I was gutted when the gyms closed again, not long to go! Can't wait to get back.

Wow that's fantastic

Labobo · 25/11/2020 14:14

@Chewwithyourfuckingmouthclosed - that is amazing. I clearly need to not overeat even more than I'm currently not over-eating Grin but though progress is slow, it is a steady downward trend and without dieting by this time next year I should be back to the weight I was when I met DH.

I'm a binge eater and a social drinker.
It's lockdown that has helped manage my calorie intake Grin
I'm struggling without the gym though
