Hi,

So I’m probably being cheeky but can anyone advise me on weight loss tips and what kind of food I should eat.

I’ve gained a bit of weight purely because I eat the same crap food everyday and most of it includes bread. I’ve had a look at bits and slimming world seems an ok option.

For context I’m 30, 5’7 and 80kg 🙈. I have a Bowel condition which limits quite a lot of veg and fruit unfortunately but I need to try anything. I feel bloated and have no energy.
I don’t hit the gym but I have been taking walks everyday.

Help x

I've lost 20kg over the course of the last 6months by intermittent fasting.

My eating window is normally between 12 noon and 6 p.m. (18/6) or 12 noon to 8pm on weekends (16\8). When I eat, I try to eat 'proper food'. For me this means food that I have to wash and cut up myself, food that's nutritious. I'm tending to eat a lot of salads with roasted chickpeas, baked potatoes and salad, soups, veg omelettes etc I try to avoid white carbs but am happy to have wholemeal bread a few times a week. I'm snacking on skyr yoghurt and apples atm.

I try to move around a lot. Got myself a Fitbit and track my steps. I was going to the gym but since they've closed I've taken up jogging.

I guess what I'm trying to say is just make some small changes. See if you can make healthier choices and find out what works for you and your body. I really recommend you look into fasting. Essentially it's just dropping breakfast and not snacking in the evening.

Firstly, I eat lots of bread and losing, for most people it's fine. You need to look properly at what you can eat with your condition and go from there really. Can you eat fermented food? Like drinking kefir and having live cultures yogurt? These things sorted all my bloating and heavy feeling really quickly. The food needs to have live cultures in it.

As you have bowel condition, do you get your vitamins and minerals checked? It can be an issue witha absorption hence the lack of energy too.

Bone broth is known to help calm down ibs and similar conditions and it's incredibly nutritious. And easy to make.

Sorry I should have said with my condition I can’t touch much dairy products either. Veg I can eat is broccoli, cabbage, carrots, parsnips, anything that is low fibre.

I eat too much white fibre at the minute as whole meal bread or pasta etc makes me sick.

If I were you, I ask GP for referal to adequate dietitian. It's very difficult with helath issues so you wouldn't make them worse, isn't it.

For now, you can make your portions smaller. Have few spoonfuls less. In the end all that counts.

I love to make roasted veg trays for myself. So far my favourite was mixed veg (carrots, tomatoes, french beans, broccoli, onion, sweet potato. But you can mix any veg you can eat) tossed in a mix of lemon juice, sriracha, rosemary, thyme, black pepper before putting in the oven. After i topped it with garlic yogurt (you can use non diary version?). Once I made it with poached eggs on top. Delicious. No oil.

Maybe having something like this could help you get on track. Very easy to make, no hassle and you can change spices to a theme and top with whatever.
