Whatever I do I cannot lose this stone of weight !!

It's getting me so down , the current situation isn't helping .

I'm 5'3
9 stone 8 lbs
33 years old

I walk for an hour everyday. And eat pretty healthy but can seem to get my diet right.

Any tips ? Would slimming world work for me ?

You need to get My Fitness Pal. Input your weight and height and how much you want to lose each week. It’ll generate your calorie allowance. Simply add every single thing that passes your lips every day, stay under your limit and you’ll definitely lose weight.

It’s science.

I've had myfitnesspal for years. I should consume 1200 cals but my relationship hops with food is bad .
I have 700-800 cals one day and the 1800 the next :(

I need to fix the mindset

It's calories in vs calories out. Simple as that. Check out team rh , please don't do slimming world. Team rh do it right. It's about being in a caloric deficit. Input everything strictly into my fitness pal for a couple of days to see what you're truly consuming. I've lost 2 stone with team rh eating 2000 calories a day and doing 10000 steps + . I'm same height but 13 stone. They'll never put your calories super low like my fitness pal recommends.

It’s harder to lose if you’re already in the healthy weight bracket. I would eat lots of veg, drink lots of water, and do some exercise you enjoy every day, even if that’s walking. Then I’d try to lose at a small rate eg a pound a week.

If you're in your 30s, you could try doing something a bit more taxing than a walk. C25k? Home circuit of skipping, speed step etc?

Also 1200 calories sounds very low. Is your body in starvation mode and hanging on to every resource it can?

I'd eat more protein, exercise a lot more and chuck away the diet books.

You're not overweight, but a pp is correct that you need to consume fewer calories than you expend. You might find that working out with weights and building lean muscle gets you the body shape you want without you actually weighing less. I was overweight - right at the top of the overweight BMI range - and in a bad place at the start of the year. I've lost 25lbs and clothes that fit me when I weighed around 10lbs less now fit me as my body shape has changed and I've lost fat and built muscle.

I wish it was as simple as calories in calories out. Hormones play a huge part in how your body deals with the energy from the food you eat. What’s a typical days eating look like OP?

LeGrandBleu · 05/11/2020 20:56

What do you eat?

Shedtheload · 06/11/2020 07:37

You’re not overweight. I’d focus on eating nourishing and healthy food rather than restricting to 700 a day. Doing strength training can also change your body composition so that you’re smaller without actually dropping any weight. If you just undereat, you’ll regain the weight quickly and end up flabby/skinny-fat.
