Hi All, I want to kindly convince my partner to lose weight with me, he says he doesn't eat a lot so there isn't much he can do.

So not to drip feed:
We are both obese my bmi is 30 and his is 46. He weighs 6 stone more than me but we eat similarly- could he be a secret eater or could it just be different metabolisms? I walk around 9-11k steps a day but clearly need to eat a lot better and do a higher impact exercise. I used to do lots of weights and exercise prebaby but not done much other than walk since. He doesn't do any exercise.

Bit stuck on how to convince him to lose weight with me so we can be healthier for our 1 year old son :(

He may not eat a lot of food in terms of quantity but, if it’s high calorie, he will put on weight.

With a BMI of 46, I bet if he weighs and logs EVERYTHING he eats and drinks in My Fitness Pal, it wouldn’t agree with him that he doesn’t eat a lot.

However you can’t force someone to change their lifestyle & diet. I have the same trouble with my DH. I log all my calories then, as I’m watching him eat 3 chocolate biscuits with his cuppa, I’m mentally calculating that he’s shovelled in 352 calories as a snack when my whole lunch is only 330 cals. I imagine you have pointed out the dangers to DH of his extra weight and how heartbroken you and DS would be if anything happened to him so, I suppose all you can do is slowly change what you are eating, and hope he picks it up as well. Good luck.

I don't think that you can make him, but you can set a good example and he might follow.

Several of my friends have done this lately, worried about covid etc. They stopped buying any junk or snacks, cut back on alcohol, and started exercise (Couch to 5K particularly).

Their Husbands followed their lead fairly soon after. Mostly in a competitive sort of way.
