Need to stop scoffing bread and processed sugar

I am a busy mum of three, do home cooking for all and enjoy healthy food. My issue is I will eat lots of toast and sugary snacks during week moments. This snowballs and then I start doing it every evening or after lunch.

Help! I have gained a stone since lockdown as it was happening more often. Before I used to limit to one pack of biscuits or whatever at the weekend max. Now it’s most days!!

Are we the same person?!

FabulouslyFab · 27/09/2020 07:52

Fortunately (there’s always a bright side!!) I only buy food for myself and have had to stop buying bread and butter because hot buttered toast is my weakness!!! I understand you Flowers

Yes, the more carbs I eat, the more I eat, they aren’t filling at all.

Thanks ladies! Glad it’s not just me, feel like such a hog! I was wondering about no bread in the house but my children and husband eat it and can leave it after a normal portion.

I think I need to just not buy any processed crap again from now on. Before I would just buy one controlled potion while out, not have in house and it worked quite well.

Can you switch to something slightly different over time? I have white bread in the hose and it is not as filling as the wholewheat I buy for myself, when I want a treat I will buy the rye sour dough loaves

I know I crave carbs but if I have a glass of water and some protein I am not as hungry

Also trying (sometimes more successfully than others) to follow the 16:8 pattern of eating which reduces th

I get you totally. And it’s a recipe for diabetes.

Do you like nuts? They’re full of good things and filling. I make a bean dip (like humour but with white beans) and have that with veggies. It’s not the same as hot buttered toast though. Sad

Not like humour! Like hummus!

RoseMartha · 27/09/2020 08:20

I have started eating wholemeal bread again.
And bought wholewheat pasta and rice.

Hi OP.

I was/still am! a big fan of tiger bread, hand cut with Clover.
But realised , like you, that one or two slices becomes most of the loaf over a day , with meals and “well, might as well finish it off seeing there’s only a bit left” day in , day out.

Stopped buying it ( and any other bread ) coincidentally at the start of March ( lockdown ) and I’m over a stone lighter. That’s the only diet change and with wfh and the gyms closed.

I always thought the stories of people cutting out bread were a bit suspect ( they must have been doing other things as well ) but that’s all it took for me.

Your body / digestion may differ of course.

Basic first step is just not to buy title in the first place.
