I don’t even know how to eat healthy anymore!

I’ve tried so many diets, never stuck to any for more than a couple of weeks and now I feel like I just dont know what to do!

In my head I’ve got so many conflicting things, I’ve tried everything from keto to slimming world and even though I know what the obviously unhealthy things are (takeaways, sheets, crisps) some people say carbs are bad some say it doesn’t matter what you eat as long g as you’re in a calorie deficit.

Tried keto this week and lost 7lb but I feel miserable and am really constipated! I don’t want to eat like that forever, I’d rather be fat!

So tomorrow I’m starting something else, but what?

Help!

I want to know too! The only diet that has ever worked for me is the divorce diet 🙈

isadorapolly · 20/09/2020 22:42

Haha @Legallybleachblonde same. I lost three stone when I left my exh, And kept it off too, but I would really like to lose another stone and a half, if still be classed as overweight but I’d feel good about myself at that weight, it’s the last weight I remember having skinny days on (you k ow when you wake up in the morning and have a skinny day? Or is it just me) x

The thing that really shifted my perspective on eating was a book called The Diet Myth, which is not a diet plan at all but about how microbes that live inside us interact with food and weight. Understanding my body better was a real switch. It’s much easier to read than might be expected (it’s on Audible too) I really recommend giving it a read before trying anything else.

It's the old adage (is it old? It's sensible, if it's not)

Eat real food
Mostly plants.
Not too much of it.

My fitness pal can help you with that last bit.

Honestly OP all these diets give conflicting and confusing information, it's like a mathematical conundrum - x has enough calories but too much sugar and not enough protein, y has has right protein but too much carbs aaaaall

Hence my own simple plan:
Go to gym minimum of 4 times a week
Breakfast - weetabix or a shake
Lunch - homemade soup or salad
Dinner - chicken/fish with lots of veg, rotating different recipes and meal planning to avoid boredom and snacking.
Drink lots of water

Veg.
Loads of veg.
And then some veg for afters.

Sigh.

Does anyone have a cheat day?

See what I think I struggle with is the idea of eating a certain way forever. If I’m being honest with myself I love food so much, not just eating it but shopping and cooking too Blush

Oh yeah to a cheat day, life is too short. But even then its probably either a chocolate bar or a small pizza lol.

Part of losing weight and keeping weight off (for most people) is learning to deal with situations where you probably will consume more food, such as celebrations, your family having a takeaway or just a fuckit day. Learn to take one day at a time and you will probably find that that day when you have a chippy tea or a huge slice of birthday cake doesn't do any harm, in the long run, and you feel psychologically better for it.
