Lighter Life

Hi

Has anybody done the Lighter Life weight loss program recently and successfully?

I'm attracted to the simplicity of it but no idea if it's nutritious or healthy, I don't see fresh veg or fruit on the plan?

It's costing £75 per week which feels expensive for my budget but I like the idea of not having to weigh everything out and calorie count as I don't have the time. I need a plan that's sustainable but nutritious and works!!

I'm hoping for a 2 stone weight loss.

Any thoughts?

Thank you 🍎

Well I did do it but not recently - it would be well over 10 years ago now. I did lose a lot - 5-6 stone - but have put it all back on again. It is supposed to have all the nutrients in the packs and bars - but I don't know how much has changed.

When I did it, apart from water, you couldn't have any "ordinary" food, it was all the shakes, soups and bars and a couple of extra things you could buy - from LL itself. It was very expensive, but then you didn't have a grocery bill. There was no flexibility for eating out etc - in fact my consultant suggested you just went along to the restaurant and had a chat whilst the others ate and you drank your water. Hmm

My problem was adjusting back to normal eating - well I just put the weight back on as I said - and that I had trouble with hair loss which, probably due to my age, never fully came back.

Unless it has significantly changed in the last few years I wouldn't recommend.

Thanks @iwantmyownicecreamvan

Appreciate you posting. I wonder if there are any other delivery services with portioned out food at about the same price?

I was also successful with LL around 10 years ago, lost almost 5 stone, I maintained for around 3 years then put some weight ( it all) back on, then managed to lose again doing slimming world.
I'm not at my goal weight now but nowhere near my heaviest.
It worked well for me, the ease of no choice and no weighing was great, obviously socially not so great but it was worth it.
I know the plan has changed since then so not really sure about it now.
Cambridge Weight Plan is more signed to hope lighter life used to be, not sure if you've considered that?
Good luck!

That should say .... some (not all)....

iwantmyownicecreamvan · 20/09/2020 20:58

Oh, so they do a delivery service arrangement now do they? When I did it you had to go to meetings (it was a bit of a pain because they were very long).

iwantmyownicecreamvan · 20/09/2020 20:59

Sorry - and you got your shakes and bars etc at the meeting. Couldn't buy them anywhere else.

Look up Exante . Same concept but much cheaper, always has offers on.

Lighterthanlife · 21/09/2020 07:34

Thanks guys

I'll google exante too Smile

For 2 stone I wouldn’t bother with this. It’s unhealthy and you’re not that overweight that you need a VLCD. Google the side effects which include your hair falling out and feeling extreme fatigue. Why don’t you eat healthily in a caloric deficit and exercise instead? You’ll get something that you’ll be able to maintain long term and can spend the £75 a week on new clothes instead.

I’ve just lost nearly 3 stone this way.

I've tried lots of different diets over the years, and LighterLife is the only one where I reached my target. It's also one of the only diets where they look at WHY you eat, not just WHAT you eat. And lets face it, if it was as simple as eating less, we'd all be slim!

I'll be totally honest - I may be slightly biased as I am now a mentor with LighterLife, but I've done the diet and it works. I've also maintained succesfully for a long time, but like many, slipped back into bad habits when life challenges came my way.

With LighterLife, your 4 packs contain all the vitamins and minerals your body needs. Theres a much better range than there was when i first did the plan 10 years ago - from porridge and pancakes, to pot noodles, pasta carbonara, soups, shakes, bars etc.

You can also access to free mentoring support - in the form of weekly online group meetings, where each week you focus on a different topic - all looking at how your thoughts and feelings drive your behaviours towards food - helping you develop strategies to help you make positive changes so that you can manage your weight effectively when the diet ends. You also have access to the Facebook community, and in my groups, free 1:1 catch ups, where you can raise any concerns / questions and a peer WhatsApp group - which is really helpful for staying motivated and on track.

It's not for everyone, but for me it works - my weight had crept up slowly after three bereavements over a short period of time, and then I put on weight during lockdown but after 6 weeks on LighterLife I'm down 1.5st and well on my way back to target.

Someone mentioned the cost - they've just launched 8 and 12 week subscriptions, which bring the cost down to just under £60 a week. If you add up takeaways, bottles of wine, bars of chocolate and your weekly shop - most people find they are saving money while they are losing weight, and changing their mindset.

Oh yes, and a VLCD is putting you into calorie defecit - but with all the vitamins and minerals your body needs to function safely. x
