Current weight loss is 2lbs in 2 weeks.
Im walking upto 15 miles a week @ 1.5hs a time
Swimming x2 a week -50 lengths of a full size pool
Food is 80% good, having tuna/han salads, chicken veg story try. Naughty things a day are small bite/ handful of choc, 1 slice of bread (seeded), alcohol every other day but only 1 glass of wine/fizz
... but only 2lbs gone.
What am I doing wrong?

Just finished my x2 poached eggs and x2 slices of ham for brekkie. I naturally went to go for the cupboard straight after - what is wrong with me ! I resisted. It was just a habit that I fwkt like i needed to grab a handful of something.

I'm comfortably full. Nothing now till lunch at 1, except tea and water Grin

@justanotherneighinparadise

Protein is the macro that fills you up and stops you from bingeing which the OP admitted she did recently. She did that because she’s HUNGRY.
But where’s the lack of protein in her diet? She has 4 different types of protein and all her meals are based around protein. She is probably HUNGRY because she isn’t getting a lot of food as it’s all low fat, albeit high protein.

On low carb diets it’s actually the fat that fills you up and provides the feeling of satiety. If she fried her eggs in butter, used full fat mayo and plenty of oil to cook her chicken she probably wouldn’t feel so hungry.

I just don’t understand how someone can look at a diet that consists of basically nothing but protein and veg and conclude that the thing missing is protein Hmm

@CodenameVillanelle

Are you calorie counting though?? If you have stopped losing then you are eating too many calories to create a deficit. You really need to be strict about this. You can't just guess.
Yes you need a calorie deficit, but I lost 2 stone without counting a single calorie. Ditched the wine, cut my portion sizes by about a third, made sure half my plate was veg and limited snacks to one small one a day. Also upped my water intake to 8 glasses a day. I lost 2 stone in 5 months and have kept it off.

I agree that fat alongside protein is important but I think we have to watch our fat intake if we want to become lean. So protein first, then fat, then carbs.

OP what were you hungry for after you had the eggs and ham? What was the food you were gravitating towards but stopped yourself?

Just because someone states they have a tuna or chicken salad or a chicken stir fry that gives us no information as to ratios of protein against other macros. My suspicion is the OP may have been scrimping on the protein as I was suggesting she upped it. No need for the snarky emoji. Everyone is trying to offer advice in the hope they might be able to help.

OP I would really encourage you to look up macros inc on Facebook. Counting macros is the most sensible way of losing weight, you can eat everything but you log everything. It makes your diet much more sustainable rather than a short term fix. Good luck!

Ohwhatbliss · 15/09/2020 13:31

I honestly think it's very easy to over complicate losing weight. IMHO you don't need to count macros, calories or use any specific method like low carb or intermittent fasting. The OP has said she snacks on chocolate etc, drinks alcohol. By sticking to 3 meals a day obv relatively healthy, cut out the alcohol, and continuing the exercise she will lose weight. I choose to do 16:8 and low cal as I know I will lose some weight quickly which will motivate me to lose the last bit

Cavagirl · 15/09/2020 13:48

@Ohwhatbliss i agree and you're right. Talk of macros etc can seem really intimidating.
Trouble is, OP has essentially tried what you suggest and isn't happy with her results at 1lb a week (for me that's a good loss). The concept of "stop eating crap" and "being good" can work but if it's not it can be really demoralising. OP hasn't said if she's following a specific diet or food plan but I'd suggest she considers it as sometimes it's a lot easier to be basically told what to do & let someone else do the thinking, whether that's keto, WW, SW, dukan, whatever fasting or simply calorie counting. Some actual structure and guidance might do the trick a bit.

Frankiegoes · 15/09/2020 14:01

I think you’re on the right track but your snacking and eating food from the cupboard is sabotaging your efforts. You need a strict rule of counting all the food you eat, including any snacks. Don’t keep chocolate etc in the house if it’s too tempting. Stick to 3 meals a day, and if you count calories of everything then you can snack in moderation too.

curlyLJ · 15/09/2020 14:16

OP you are doing fine. Honestly.
If all you are thinking about is food and what you weigh, then please DON'T BUY new scales! I can't stress enough that the more you fixate on what they say, then you are just playing a game of chasing your tail. If you really must have a measure to go by ten use a tape measure and see inches come off your waist instead.

People saying you have to be good 100% of the time in order to lose weight are WRONG. The workouts are the best way to change your body composition. You want to lose FAT, not weight. You want to gain muscle and get fitter, which will improve your body shape.

Relax. Eat when you are hungry (these cravings mean you are not fuelling your body properly, especially after a workout) The constant restriction and obsession with food is driving your cravings.
I was in your position a year or so ago, but I did proper research/changed my mindset and concentrated on getting fitter and stopped obsessing about calories or what the scales say (I took the batteries out!) I have lost weight fat and kept it off without really trying.

Try reading The F*ck it diet.

Calorie counting is essential, I can guarantee when you calculate you’re consuming a lot more than you imagine. I’m in the exact same boat—eating healthy, but then when you calculate it’s actually not enough to lose weight. It takes a big deficit to lose weight, and if you want to lose more you have to aim for a big deficit.

Unfortunately a couple of treats a week is usually enough to undo everything... I feel your pain!
