As the title says really.

I have already lost 2st plus with around another 7 to go. I can no longer manage with my original clothes as they are too large now but not sure what to buy and when. I don't want to spend too much until I reach my goal weight.

I do work full time at an extremely relaxed place and at the moment I am working from home and this will continue till around November.

I have updated my underwear and bought some gym gear, but what do you think is the minimum I can get away with for day to day?

Nightwear and gym clothes for me! It is the bras I have found most expensive to keep up with. Well done on your achievement :) You may want to explore charity shops with a tape measure but measure yourself before you go so you know what sizes you are looking for in real terms not what the label says.

Charity shops are your friend

It's the only way I've managed to look half decent with some of my clothes only lasting 4-6 weeks!

I don't know how fast you are losing weight but say you average 1lb a week thats 14 weeks to drop a stone. Now for me a stone to stone and a half is one size down. When you lost those 2 stones how many sizes did you go down? Use that to gauge how fast you drop sizes.. this is an estimate and you might find it later takes half a stone to drop a size once you are under 12 or 10uk.

Now, if it takes you a 14 weeks and 14lb to drop a size then get a capsule wardrobe in the size you are now.
Only spend more on shoes, bags, accessories, skincare, hair, make up.. basically stuff that will still be good when you drop sizes.
You can either go all high street with your clothes or pay more and then resell on facebook, vinted, ebay and the like. The high street stuff sometimes gets sold but doesnt bring back much money as better brands.
I would see every lb you lose as achievement and not let yourself get neglected until you get to the finish line.. because then your body will be too different you hadnt had time to get adjusted to it and used to it, your new silhouette wont show and it is nice when people notice and compliment us on getting slimmer (though i know some people find this uncomfortable)...
I find that psychologically holding on to fat wardrobe rather than just say one pair of jeans to see how big you used to be is sort of a psychological trigger or security blanket that your subconscious thinks you will need them as you will fail and get big again so do get rid as you drop sizes.
So for the next 14 weeks that means you need autumn/winterclothes to see you throught sept, oct, nov and some dec.
In this case i would get few basics:
Jeans or trousers x 2
Jumper
Cardi or jacket or blazer thats warm enough to be worn as outerwear
2 vests
2 tops or t shirts
Dress or skirt if you like
Coat either mac or rain. Anything thicker id wait to november.
Big pashmina/poncho (trend this year and very forgiving with sizes)
Ankle boots or trainers, hat, gloves.

Oh and definitely keep getting your bra size checked on boobs or bust.

Of course you could buy your clothes from ebay or charity shops but you need to be prepared to give them away or sell as i dont think they take returns..

I’d get a few dresses from charity shops and donate them back when you don’t need them.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 31/08/2020 05:27

I would say 2 pairs of trousers or jeans, 1 tracky bottoms, 7 tops, couple of cardigans. But I am a person who never wears skirts or dresses in the winter because I can't be faffed with tights.

I would try De-Pop or Ebay.
