...would love some advice and reassurance! i gave birth to my son 9 weeks ago and am feeling a bit low about how huge i feel. i'm not a vain person but i can feel this knocking my confidence...i am about 2 1/2 stone over my normal weight and am now 'officially' overweight with a bmi of 27.

of course i realize that it's only been two months and it's going to take time - but everyone said breastfeeding would help with weight loss...i've also been eating very healthily and going for walks in the park etc. even managed to do a workout dvd a few times! so imagine my delight when i get on the scale yesterday to find i'm a few pounds HEAVIER than a week ago! i'm concerned my metabolism could be on a sloth like speed or something...also terrified as my mother put on masses of weight after she had me and never shifted it. she didn't really try to lose the baby weight but she definitely does not overeat and the weight has NEVER come off...worried i am destined to be the same.

i would love to hear if anyone had a similar not losing weight while bf experience, and also would love reassurance that this weight can come off and i'm not destined to be the weight of a rugby player forever...xxx

Oh Glitter I've been there! I used to read about these girls who got back into their jeans the week after their births spit spit & get really depressed!!

It IS early days so carry on doing what you are doing, eat healthily, regular gentle excercise but most of all ENJOY this time with your little boy it soon passes as I'm sure you've been told!

You may find your metabolism changes after childbirth, mine certainly did so a DIFFERENT diet/excercise regime may be needed but not heavier workouts or anything too extereme!

Take Care

I did not lose a single pound while breastfeeding but I joined Weight Watchers 2 months after giving birth and lost 7 stone!
Breastfeeding is supposed to make your womb contract back to its original size quicker and therefore get your tummy back to its original shape quicker! Well mine was big before I even got pregnant. I am pregnant again now and am already planning my WW meetings for next month.
i think you just need to find a weight loss method that works for you and that you can stick to. Good Luck
