If you constantly fail at losing weight

Do you want to give it one last go? I constantly start a diet, I am really good for three or four days, then it all goes wrong and I stuff my face and then I give up. Confused

I'm going to give it another go, starting from now really. Anyone want to join me. I'm so fed up with this taking up so much of my mind space.

Help is very appropriate!! My strategy is counting 1400 calories and making them stretch as far as possible so I'm eating big meals and don't feel hungry. So ryvitas are great at filling me up, as are a few new potatoes. Then a good helping of protein and a huge amount of green salad to bulk it all out. I'm on day three and don't feel too deprived so far! I really hope I can keep this up.

@Cherryblossomandcornflakes I really hope that you can stick with it. The alternative is just too depressing.

I had an egg salad for lunch and dinner was chicken and loads of green veg. I'm stuffed but that doesn't stop me wanting chocolate. I don't have any junk food in the house and I would have to drive a ten mile round trip to get chocolate and I actually can't be bothered. I really need to stick with this.

I’ve made it 💪🥳
Here’s to tomorrow everyone!!

I would start with asking mylself the question: why do I get by stuffing my face, what does it do for me?

Cherryblossomandcornflakes · 30/07/2020 10:17

My first pound is off! I'm excited about this! Proving to myself that I can do it. To answer the previous question, I stuff myself for a few reasons. One of which is out of fear of being hungry, and the other is for the emotional boost. I can get the emotional boost in other ways, especially now I can get out again, and I can tackle the fear of being hungry by being more organised with preparing - if I know I'm going to be out all day, carrying filling healthy food with me.

Hi all, can I join? This thread definitely seems like it's for me, the cycle of comfort eating etc etc. I have a problem with binge and secret eating too.

I am actively trying to eat better and starting by making one change a week. My first habit change last week was moving to wholemeal/granary bread. Given I eat a lot of bread (argh) hopefully this will be a good start.

When I have done well losing weight, it's because I have been eating enough. If you are hungry self control can often go out of the window.

My next change will be drinking more water.

I found first few weeks were hard with cravings. But then it calmed down. I have failed absolutely miserably on keto😂 Carbs for life here. Doing well on calorie counting. So it is about a right way.

What helped me to keep my cravings in bay was (coupled with the fact I have morbid before the obese bit...) that I knew I can have it because I pre plan.
So if I fancy chocolate, I will count it as a snack or I will grate a bit into yogurt (add frozen berries and it's absolutely delicious). It's accounted for and it's available. I have this weakness with cheese. So I preplan snacks or meals with cheese.

It takes some time to get used to it, but you will crack it soon.

I did the same Schrodingers, with chocolate. I had real cravings this afternoon. So had four squares of fruit and nut with a cup of tea, felt a whole lot happier, counted the calories and all was well. Didn’t eat the whole bar, or judge myself for failing. Kinda pleased with myself for getting the balance right.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 07/08/2020 18:28

@Cherryblossomandcornflakes good job! It really does get easier and easier to just have little bit and not all of it.
Make sure you get yourself good quality chocolate. I now look at food and judge it by the quality rather than quantity. It REALLY has to taste great for me to use calories on it.
