It meant I didn't eat cr*p in the evenings and I have a lost a pound.

Only 23 to go...............

Is it true if you lose weight slowly it is more likely to stay off?

I think so NAB. The idea is it comes off more naturally that way, crash diets help you lose loads initially but then your metabolism adjusts to "starvation" mode as a natural defence, so it slows down.

If you lose it gradually, then your dietary changes will become part of your lifestyle & it will stay off rather than you being "on a diet" & then reverting back to old bad habits. (in theory that is!)

I think breakfast is so important cos it kickstarts your day & you have the whole day to burn off the calories of whatever you have eaten.

If I dont eat breakfast I dont lose weight. I am doing WW, and have come to realise this, and it has to be a proper breakfast.

tried Banana and Yogurt, but it dosnt work.

Now I have porridge and toast use about 4 points, and have now lost since 1st April, 3 stone.

well done shosh that's great!

And you NAB3, I meant to say before.

You have both inspired me to get going on the healthy eating thing again, thanks!

Yippee! Have lost another pound! Have been having oatcakes, watercress and smoked salmon pate for lunch for the last few days, and not only is it surprisingly nice, it is filling and I have lost 2lbs in 2 weeks now.

Well done nab!

I can't function without breakfast - and a good balanced one. Not just toast or cereal as that doesn't help. I usually go without lunch and don't miss it.

pipsqueak Talk porridge to me. The kids have it every morning but I am not sure I could eat much of their. How do you have yours and which one?

I soak my porridge the night before in either oj or milk - only a small amount and then eat raw ( I dont care for cooked porridge) I add a couple of fruit aswell bluelerry, pear or banana, have been having blackberries as lots in the hedgerows at the moment.

pipsqueak · 09/10/2007 22:51

nab 3 , i have the quaker oats and make it in the microwave using skimmed milk - basically half a cup of oats and about the same of skimmed milk for 2 mins and then add a bit of cold milk at the end to cool it and get the right consistency - its quite creamy even though only skimmed milk - have now lost 11lbs which is fab for me . i am sure it is the breakfast becuase i am not starving by lunchtime and make sensible lunchtime decisions and dont seem to snack out all day as i used to do ...give it a try!

NAB3 · 11/10/2007 12:36

Thanks for that, only just seen this. Bought some Oatibix porridge yesterday but DH made me a bacon and egg sandwich for breakfast today.

I am the only one that porridge doesn't fill all morning??? Had porridge and raspberries this morning and was hungry by 11.30. Sigh.

harleyweendemon · 11/10/2007 12:44

if i didnt eat breakfast i would be hitting the floor by 9am!

NAB3 · 11/10/2007 18:07

I think that is why I have been feeling so rubbish. No chance to eat breakfast as sorting out the million kids I have somehow ended up with. Last 2 weeks trying really hard to eat something and have felt better but still have times where my head is spinning.
