Is there anything anyone has done or tried to minimize it,that's actually worked?mine is quite severe and gotten worse as I've hit my 40s,cant ever imagine wearing a bathing suit again in comfort. I've got deep dimples and rippling mattress affect all over bum and thighs.for context,I'm a size 8 slim, and run regularly. My diet is ok,I do have a sweet tooth.i know it's not a big deal to most women but mine is so bad and its depressing me.

Well sugar is terrible for cellulite so you should abandon your sweet tooth. Sugar has some interaction with collagen which will realist in changes in the skin.
In addition to adopting a cellulite-helping diet made of fresh greens, you should also do the dry brushing, and massaging every day.
I also do coffee scrubs regularly.
Running won't make much difference, try to do leg exercises.
Good luck

Cellulite is largely genetic, so it can’t be prevented in some people. There are surgical treatments that apparently work well, but these are quite invasive.

Having cellulite doesn’t mean you are skinny fat. Everybody has some body fat. In fact women who aren’t specific types of pro athletes are generally advised to have body fat over 20% to stay healthy.

So you can’t not have any subcutaneous fat, and cellulite is just the result of your connective tissue being in a state such that it herniates this fat. People without cellulite don’t have less subcutaneous fat, they just have differently structured connective tissue.

Unfortunately even people who are seriously underweight can have bad cellulite.

@Just01 I know you are slim and I know it is hard to lose an addiction to sugar, but sugar breaks down the collagen fibre which will create the pockets between skin and muscle and that's cellulite.
We all have fat, but it is located under a thick and tight barrier, if there are breaks in that barrier, the fat will show.

You can work on cellulite with massage but to fix the collagen you need to change the diet.
If you have a genetic predisposition, you need to be more determined.
I know it is hard with covid, but water, swimming, walking in water, alternating cold and hot water helps a bit.

Your cellulite didn't become so bad overnight, it will take time and effort to reduce it. Auto massage and dry brushing really help,.

How bad do you like that cookie or ice-cream. More than the idea of wearing a bikini. It is easier to cut ALL sugar, instead of reducing, as it will leave craving.

You should tackle your cellulite not only for aesthetic reasons, but because it could become painful in the future.
IF you usually snack on sweet stuff in from t of telly, switch the bowl for a dry brush and while you watch, brush your legs, 15 mins each and then with an oil, massage them, pinching and rolling the legs. There are videos online.

You care enough you posted on MN, now take the second step and clean your cupboards. Smile

Size 8 and also have this bad on my thighs, calves and arms. I hate it. I do martial arts 3 x a week and run and eat lots of veg, pulses etc. Also drink 2 plus litres of water.

What a load of bollocks being spotted by a posted on this thread. Cellulite can be largely genetic so all the 'pinching when on the sofa' of it is likely to just lead to bruising. It also does not lead to becoming painful over time

You'd be better off working on your self esteem. Dry brushing etc etc have their place but it's cellulite fgs, it won't kill you and unless you have a job as a swimwear model Id really try not to worry about it so much

Shedtheload · 19/07/2020 12:32

I’m afraid that while avoiding sugar and massaging might make a small difference, cellulite is genetic. Cutting out all sugar will not ‘cure’ it although avoiding excessive sugar is always a good idea. Massage might improve the appearance a bit but personally I wouldn’t waste my time sitting in front of the tv massaging my legs!
Fake tan is good for making it look better and I never really notice other women’s cellulite so it’s probably not as bad as you think. 90% of us have it so it’s just a fact of life sadly.
It’s rubbish that cellulite gets painful. It doesn’t and it’s not medically bad for you. It just relates to how your cells are formed.

You are slim with cellulite. I'm not sure why you think you shouldn't wear a bikini. I have just got back from a beach holiday and I would say about 20% of the bikini wearers had what is touted as a "bikini body". Everyone else just liked wearing a bikini!

Wecandothis99 · 19/07/2020 12:49

Lol I just read that cr@p above about you needing to try harder. Gosh what a load of rubbish. I have the healthiest diet, never eat sugar or bad fats and exercise ALOT and I have cellulite (not a small amount either) so it's just tough unfortunately, it's in your genes and don't fret you're not the only one and no one is judging you because of it
