Sorry posted x2 just wondering of this bit has more traffic, im doing Slimming World.
Starting today, i did it a while ago and worked pretty well,..
life circumstances changed drastically and i stopped going, i have an underactive thyroid, life long struggle, pregnant and only just coming out the woods with Hypermesis, it feels like an insurmountable task tbh but i have to try. i haven't set an actual target because I can't imagine in my condition what a realistic one would be. so i just thought id make a thread, it might be useful, it might end up being a huge mistake as this thread will obvs attract all the dickheads, Winkbut we'll see how it goes how is everyone today? are there any good slimming journals aswell?

I mean this with kindness but should you be following weight watchers while pregnant? I know the programme does base itself on fresh healthy eating I just didn’t think it was set up for pregnant women.

PasstheBucket89 · 29/06/2020 19:29

in the pack it said it was ok for pregnant and breastfeeding women, is there any thing im not aware of that makes it bad?

Slimming world claims to be pregnancy friendly, that's what the OP is doing.

Good luck OP, no point in anybody giving you a bashing because you are where you are and you're working on it now. I imagine your pregnancy must be pretty high risk so that should help keep you motivated. Slimming world can be very effective if you've got lots to lose, is your partner supportive?

oooompa · 29/06/2020 19:40

Good luck OP, and congratulations on your pregnancy! How far along are you, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm not too familiar with Slimming World but I know a friend did it whilst she was pregnant and lost a little bit of weight to start with and then set the goal to just maintain her weight and eat sensibly following the SW principles.

In both my pregnancies I took the "eating for 2" saying to heart and well and truly pigged out, gaining loads of weight both times 😳

Smarshian · 29/06/2020 19:52

Slimming world is definitely pregnancy friendly. I would recommend as I do to anyone on Slimming world that you focus on eating plenty of free and speed food and steer away from the ‘fake away’ foods and those with lots of sweeteners etc.
Don’t go hungry in pregnancy - focus on filling up with fruit and veg.
Good luck!

Thanks everyone, im 17 weeks @oooompa tbf i hate the term high risk, its very dehumanised other than hypermesis, which ive had in every pregnancy. ive never had a raised blood pressure, high heart rate, gestational diabetes, DVP or any other complication .... in 3 pregnancies! aren't many women of 25 BMI that can say that to be honest. its just its time i got on it again being very inactive with my hypermesis has made put a lot of weight on, i have a very low metabolism so i need to be helping myself out.

I miss read your post as weight watchers and I know they had said that they didn’t have a programme for pregnant women. If slimming world do then that’s great.

When I had weight to lose (albeit I wasn’t pregnant at the time) I broke it into what I felt was manageable. I kept a table of weight loss where I could see it and that helped keep me motivated

Jannyapple66 · 29/06/2020 20:14

Slimming world is a great option for a pregnant lady
Don't worry we can see off any "dickheads "
Not doing sw at the moment , on 1st week of 1:1 and feeling good ( definitely not suitable for pregnancy)
Good luck, lots of speed , lots of free and enjoy your healthy extras
Think you may get extra ?

PasstheBucket89 · 29/06/2020 21:01

Yeah weight watchers i found juat too restrictive,i cant imagine it being great for preggos, i remember one woman in group went to bed at 5pm cuz all she could eat left point wise was an apple! Confused

Hope you’re feeling motivated this morning. Nice gentle walk if you can. I also found that planning my food for the day helps me.

MangoFeverDream · 30/06/2020 07:53

Zero weight gain pregnancy is not fringe, there are a lot of obgyns who recommend it for the very obese.

More realistic in approach would be 10-15 pounds gain.

Obviously your doctor is going to be the best guide here, but using pregnancy to kickstart healthy eating and gentle exercise is not a bad idea. It’s not about dieting .... I think the study I saw on this recommended 2000 calories a day, which seems pretty doable actually.

PasstheBucket89 · 30/06/2020 09:25

@Smarshian thankyou you too! i need to post something today its a bit scary, ive not been able to really leave the house for months with my hypermesis, i need my iron levels checked as well, but all my bloods have been okbso far but ive felt shocking these last 2 days, i did get a arm with my first. although with my sickness so far ive only put on 2lbs, but im not entirely sure what it might have been had been able to go out and eat normally. i always find breakfast the hardest meal, i think its because i like much less fruit than i do vegetables.

PasstheBucket89 · 30/06/2020 09:26

*anaemia with my first not an arm
