Anybody there.........?

First few weeks of lockdown I stuffed my already overweight face. I have a hairdressers appointment early July and I'm think of a rather feeble but realisitic 2 lbs weight loss by then.

Did I read right..2lbs??Not much..or did you mean more??

annabell22 · 11/06/2020 07:06

Define old? I'm 52, does that count?!

randomer · 11/06/2020 09:37

@fataroundthemiddle, you read right, if I can lose 2 lb forever and then another forever, I think it will work.

annabell.....t'was meant to be light hearted?

I'm 62 if that helps.

Oh, I'm in. Totally lacking motivation, let all my pre lockdown fitness go, and am eating things I'd never dream of eating before, and swigging wine daily. I'm going to try the 16:8 thing I think. And get back to daily exercise, not so much for weight loss but for the mindset.

randomer · 11/06/2020 09:52

Oh Mascotte....I hear you!

annabell22 · 11/06/2020 14:07

@randomer I knew that! Guessed you were hoping for some post-menopausal company, and it that case, I qualify!

@Mascotte I have been doing 16:8 and exercising daily for the last month and lost only 2.5lbs Sad

FuckyNel · 11/06/2020 14:15

I’m in! I’m 48 and as I’ve got into menopause found I’m a bit porkier. Never had to diet before so it’s tough!

I started at 11.7
Height 5.3
Current weight 11.1

It’s taken about a month of 1400 cals a day and have just started this week 16.8. You have to be sooooo strict though one slip and it’s not a loss that week. Sad

FuckyNel · 11/06/2020 14:16

When I was younger well it was a piece of piss to stay slim!!!!!

Mascotte · 11/06/2020 14:30

@annabell22 mmm! Maybe I will need more drastic measures.

Because I'm so fucking bored I've lapses into a torpor so can't be arsed to meal plan. Or to queue for shops, so eat a lot of toast/cheese/crisps/snacks.

I need a massive kick up my massive arse!

Mascotte · 11/06/2020 14:33

I'm fifty but not menopausal do not even that excuse. I do have adenomyosis though which causes terrible bloating (or so I insist) and was in line for hysterectomy before all this kicked off. I planned to use the time to get fitter and thinner for surgery.. that has not gone well. But I need to focus. I'll just do calories: will re download MyFitnessPal

I posted this on another thread but I am 59 and have lost exactly a stone ( down to 9st3) in lock down (WFH) by eating two home cooked meals a day, and only occasionally snacking on fruit or nuts. Not ordering any sweets, cakes, biscuits or crisps and not constantly stumbling across them at work or in shops has made a massive difference. I have also been cycling or walking daily in place of my 2-3 hour commute - although it turns out I'm not prepared to do that when it is cold and wet...

Mascotte · 11/06/2020 14:39

Gosh, @Scarby9, impressive! That's the precise opposite of my lockdown diet. Might be a good way to go, I do notice I eat less if I eat a proper lunch.

Scarby9 · 11/06/2020 14:49

I am impressed (stunned actually) myself! The weight has piled on over the last 9 years, particularly the last two or three and I told myself it was impossible to lose it at my age. Turned out that the eat less, mostly plants, and move more mantra was actually true. And yes, really decent meals - full plate of chicken or fish with potatoes, rice or grains and lots of veg (2 or 3 types) then yoghurt or fruit and a coffee does not feel like deprivation and keeps me going no problem. Just a bit concerned over the lack of motivation with exercise now weather has taken a nosedive. Maybe the new habits aren't actually established, and I will go back to adding unnecessary snacking once I am surrounded by temptation again.

FuckyNel · 11/06/2020 14:54

I’ve bought a peleton with all saved lockdown cash and it certainly helps. Only if you love to spin of course Grin well I say love - it’s definitely hard whilst you’re doing it

annabell22 · 11/06/2020 16:47

I'm really active to make up for WFH, my gym is open so I run 3x week and walk for 60-75 minutes the other days. I'm mostly vegan, occasionally vegetarian, and eat ridiculous amounts of fruit and veg, cook from scratch apart from Linda McC sausages and the occasional burger, drink lots of water, etc...it's working, but not quickly enough! I have been tracking on MFP and rarely eat over 1400 a day so there should be a deficit.

randomer · 11/06/2020 18:25

Wow@Scarby9, thats impressive.

I'm not sure all this tracking and inputing is for me. It's painfully slow but I have cut way back on junk, cakes, sweets, salty snacks. I now actually eat food. I don't think I'll be in a bike ( metaphorical or otherwise) any time soon but I mangage between 5,000 and 10,000 steps a day.

OP posts:
Scarby9 · 12/06/2020 09:58

I specifically haven't done any tracking or inputting. Literally just cutting out ALL the rubbish and extras and eating sensibly. It is lockdown that has enabled me to do this, as I have been shut away from all temptation and don't have the excuse of having treats in for other people at the moment, so that is one good thing from the restrictions in the midst of all the negatives.

randomer · 12/06/2020 10:12

Well done you !

Mascotte · 12/06/2020 10:24

I'm going to try the @Scarby9 diet. 😃 I like cooking too, so that will fi time and give me purpose.
