Hi, anyone want to join me on the NHS plan?
link

Week one main points
-Weigh self and measure waist

  • Eat 1400 calories a day
  • Drink water, at least 1.2 litres (I am going to aim for 2)
  • Eat more fibre (30g)
  • Use smaller plates/bowls to help with portion control

week 1 link

Looks like being more active comes in week 2, but I'm going to move more, not decided how to achieve this yet. Anyone wont to keep me company?
(I have 5 to 6 stone to lose but hoping the 12 weeks will set me up in new habits and to continue to lose)

I'm up for it, I'm worried about my motivation lagging. Single mum of a toddler self isolating due to both of us having asthma....I feel so gross right now as eating utter crap and too tired when dd goes to bed to do any exercise! This could be what I need to get my bum in gear xx

Sunseed · 12/04/2020 23:05

Thanks for the Week 2 link Iwillgetthere. Not been a good day for chocolate has it! Though wine is my real downfall. I barely see a biscuit in this house as DCs snaffle them all in double quick time.

Hello Twinkle. Are you able to start with really small exercises like a few squats or arm circles while waiting for the kettle to boil or something like that?

1willgetthere · 13/04/2020 11:12

Welcome TwinkleMerrick some energetic dancing would be good exercise if its just you and a toddler.

I weighed in at 15st 6 so a four pound loss and 100cm round my waist so that 4cm lost too. So quiet pleased with that.

How did you all do? and do you have a goal for the 12 weeks?

I have just stumbled across this and for me it seems easy to follow which I like.
I want to lose a stone, single parent to 3, drinking wine every night which is not good. I know if I cut the wine out I will lose weight. I exercise 4/5 times a week.
Can I join you?

Sunseed · 14/04/2020 09:52

1willgetthere that's a great start - well done! I haven't lost any weight yet but did measure 4cm smaller round my waist which I am happy with. I think that happened because I was working in the garden last week so lots of bending and stretching.

HedgeHog I am just the same as you with the wine and hence why I lost nothing last week. But I was much more aware of it because I was tracking my calorie intake and it was undoing all the daytime effort of making better food choices.

My 12 week goal is to lose a stone and get wine under control to no more than 1 bottle a week.

HedgeHogFoxBadger · 14/04/2020 11:37

sunseed that sounds like a good plan. I am thinking of switching to gin for less calories plus I drink it a lot slower than wine!
Meant to be starting today......

1willgetthere · 14/04/2020 19:54

Welcome HedgeHogFoxBadger did you get started today? I needed a day or 2 to plan what I could have and get into the mindset before getting started.

Thanks Sunseed I am pleased and its given me to motivation to continue. Well done on the cm lost.

I'm hoping to lose 2 stone in the 12 weeks.

I didnt start today but my food hasnt been too bad but having wine. I did go for a run today and did some weights.
Tomorrow! 1willgetthere are you on week 2 now? x

1willgetthere · 14/04/2020 23:01

Yes I'm on week 2, but the only difference in the plan for week 2 is exercise which it looks like you are doing already.

I was saving enough calories for a cream egg every evening, my husband has finished them Sad not sure weather to buy more at the next shop and hope I can stay controlled to have 1 a day or to not buy any.

So I have had a pretty positive day with my eating.
Went for a 10 mile bike ride this afternoon and just done some hitt training.
Meals
No breakfast
Lunch homemade sweet potato, carrot, lentil and coconut soup with 2 slices of WW bread. (Not sure how many calories to put down for the soup?)
Dinner sweet potato and chorizo quesadillias (Gousto) which on the recipe says 700 cals (I am never quite sure how they work the calories out!)
Now I am having a G&T. No wine for the first time in a long time!

Sunseed · 17/04/2020 09:32

How's everybody getting on? Can't believe it's Friday already - this week seems to have gone fast and my DCs will be back to online school on Monday.

I've had a couple of longish walks this week and will have a go at some of the strength training exercises today. I have a painful foot which might limit some of them (and has stopped me running for a few weeks) but I'll do what I can. Had to go shopping yesterday and made the classic error of going when I was hungry..... that was hard work.

1willgetthere · 17/04/2020 22:59

Hi Im doing well I think, I went over a bit yesterday, but had run out of all fruit and salad stuff, I made up for it I hope today after shopping and had 1103 cals.

I think I may have to do a top up shop half way through the week for fresh fruit and salad to be able to stick to the cals. Although not when I am hungry, I have made that mistake before. I have also read about Shirataki noodles which are only 15 cals a portion so I may get some of these if I can find them at the next shop.

So far I havent done as much exercise as I would have liked, but went for a 5k bike ride with my 11 year old today, which was nice and I hope to do more often.

Im not looking forward to home schooling again next week, my DC have special needs so its no easy task but them falling behind (or further behind) would be detrimental to the mental health when they do return to school.

week 3 link

This talks about how to stay motivated with the exercise and has some breakfast ideas.

It also says 150 mins of aerobic exercise and also strength exercises, there is a link in there for the NHS Strength and flex program, so Im going to give that ago tomorrow.

Weigh in tomorrow morning too.

1.5 pounds lost and 2 cm of the waist. Feel a little disappointed with the weight loss as I had been so good and have so much to lose but better of than on and hopefully lose more next week.

How is everyone getting on?

OP posts:
HedgeHogFoxBadger · 20/04/2020 21:07

Hi everyone. I have done ok today. I've only had 1350 calories and done a workout. My food hasnt been as healthy as I would have liked but it's a start.
Well done on the loss 1willgetthere. Its a loss!

Sunseed · 21/04/2020 09:30

1willgetthere don't lose heart - that's a reasonable loss, and same again next week will add up to a half stone in total after only 3 weeks so actually you'd be right on track for your target.

I've lost 3lbs and another 2cm, on top of losing nothing last week so starting to shift. Wine is still my downfall though. I'm pleased all the Easter chocolate has gone as that's one less temptation.
