I have been trying to lose a stone for the past 3mths but haven't got very far at all. Several times i have lost about 6lbs and then put it all staright back on.

I do fine until the 2 weks before my period when i basically eat like a pig, anything and everything will do.

I have started doing an exercise dvd as my stomach desperatly needs toning up too, but am struggling to do that too, not because it's hard more because i am lazy.

So can it be done and if so how ??????

Good idea about more interesting salads - I often get stuck into a rut foodwise. Nutty - mushrooms can be eaten raw. Take a bit of getting used to though. I like raisins in salds to make them a bit sweeter, do you think that's okay?

Nutty - IT IS SKIN...shudder. And, VERY VERY bad for you.

All veg are good in calories, except potatoes, parsnips, sweetcorn and peas.

Ooh Vict...make a 'free-vegetable soup'. Put any vegetables you like in a pan (chopped) with 2 pts of water and two stock cubes. Cook for 20 mins and blend. Lovely, and almost no calories. Have for lunch with your sandwich. For an added twist (ooh, the excitement), add some curry powder.

Vict - I think that a small box of Sun-maid raisins is about 47 calories. That shouldn't do your diet too much harm! Also, they would count as one portion of your 5 a day.

I'll just have to not have chikcen ever again then cos i do not have the willpower to leave the lovely crispy skin.

I like raw mushrooms so thats o.k, was just never sure wether i should be eating them raw.

Bugger is sweetcorn fattening too then, i love that.

And I love nothing more than roast potatoes and parsnips!!! Luckily I love veg soup. Now ds is on solids I've been eating purred veg for lunch sometimes but last week felt a bit sick one day which put me off!

Chinchilla · 05/10/2004 20:36

Sweetcorn is not fattening, just not as low as other veg.

nutcracker · 05/10/2004 20:36

I am crap at cooking too, which doesn't help.

Veg soup though, i might try that. Oh i don't have a blender though damn.

I don't think you have to have a blender. You can just cut veg up small.

Chinchilla · 05/10/2004 20:39

Sieve the soup when the veg are really soft. It's a pain, but worth it. Alternatively, have a thick and chunky soup.

I've been on Scarsdale for 3 weeks and have lost 11 pounds. Lots of meat, fruit, veg, cheese & eggs. Very little carbs and fat. it was a doddle, lost about a pound a day. scarsdaledietinfo

Blimey! Have you got any more to lose or are you at your target weight?

A stone in a month is achievable but totally unhealthy to do. You usually put it all back on! It's best to aim for 2lb a week it takes longer but stays off! Tried every diet in the world in my lifetime. I am, afraid the only real answer is healthy diet and regular exercise. Why not invest in a gym membership you meet great people and get some really good support. Been a personal trainer/fitness instructor for 15 years hope this advice helps? Good luck! Better still....love the body your in !!!
