How to resist temptation from those around me

I've been trying and failing to lose weight/be more healthy for so long and it is making me quite miserable.

This week I have decided to give up cake, chocolate, biscuits etc for the foreseeable. I'm sure at some point, I'll be able to have a little now and again but right now it has to be none of it otherwise I'll binge.

Despite telling family members, they continue to bombard me with all of the foods I'm trying to give up so I need another way to resist this stuff.

I do have a teen ds who will willingly hoover it all up but I'm getting increasingly concerned about the bad habits I've passed onto him so would prefer that not to be the default.

Any suggestions?

Give it to local foodbank.

“Thank you, but as I told you I am trying to lose weight.”

Self control, and not banning yourself from eating certain foods. You’ll just make yourself want them more

That perhaps came across as rude btw, I really didn’t intend it to be! Blush I have an issue with binge eating too, and zero self control. I’ve found the more I tell myself I’m not allowed biscuits/cake etc the more I want it then do end up on a massive binge

Thanks for the replies.

Food bank is a good idea as long as I don't eat it before getting to one.

Self control is definitely lacking and something I would like to learn. Knowing what I'm like, I think cold turkey is the best option. I don't get anything from eating this junk (apart from fat and unhealthy!!). Didn't think you came across as rude Smile

I really think sugar is addictive. I did really well in January ridding the house of Christmas snacks, stopped buying biscuits for the kids, just didn't have any junk around. We had a few sweet things bought as gifts when we had friends over and I literally could not stop myself eating them, even though I know they have almost no nutrient value and push my calories way over. I think I have changed my mindset to enjoy eating healthy food and I know I feel better when I do, but the sugar sabotages my efforts. I've given it up for Lent!
