roisin - sadly it's also the wheat flour content in crumpets which is the problem, as any type of bread/pasta etc, even in quite small quantites, seems to make me gain loads of weight. Am desperately trying to think of something seasonal whaich is ok - do you think roast chestnuts would be alright? Actually I remember once having something a bit like little pancakes/drop scones made with chestnut flour when I was in Corsica, so perhaps I could try making something like that? Except I haven't got a clue where to buy chestnut flour in the UK.

1/2 Ib for me this week - a bit dissapointing but what the hey - it takes me to 14Ibs and size 12 jeans!!!

BTW roisin, thank you for you lovely comments on that horrible thread!!!

Well done Sweetheart!!! 1 stone is fantastic! How have you managed it? I really need some good tips.

(And dont worry about the comments - these adolescent bullying tactics seem to arise from time to time - people seem to have more courage on VR but wouldn't say half of these things in RL)

sweetheart · 05/10/2004 11:16

MIAM,

I've actually lost nearly 2 stone but in 2 lots IYSWIM. I stopped over last xmas and then started back in the summer.

I've done it by not refusing myself anything. If I wanted cake, I ate cake - but just a little bit AND I made sure I was honest with my ww points. I think thats the most important thing - I used to eat something naughty and "forget" about it!!!

Good luck to you and thanks for your lovely comments

MUMINAMILLION · 05/10/2004 11:54

Wow!! I've lost 1 1/2 stone over the last year, so I suppose that is good really. But I really seem to have come to a standstill, and am just so confused as to what diet to try - I have them all - except WW! I did try WW but found it very confusing. Was veggie at the time and all I could eat were eggs (not too keen on) and tofu (loathe and detest!) I know it is much better now, but it is not the lack of a diet that is my prob - just the lack of willpower! Am absolutely dreading posting my weight this Friday as I am sure I have put on, yet again! And after being so positive last week too. I think I need a few of you to move in with me for a few months, and regulate everything I put in my mouth!!

bunnyrabbit · 05/10/2004 13:06

MIAM,
OK so here is a kick up the bum!!!

I'm not doing a particular diet a the moment. I've just really changed what I eat. I also am far more relaxed at weekends so it gives me more impetus to be good in the week if I know I'll let myself have something naughty at the weekend.

I know what you mean about suddenly wanting to eat everything when you're on a diet. Instead of denying yourself, which I find immediately makes me want to pig out, what about delaying it? e.g. In the afternoons about 3.30 I get the munchies. We have a cupboard at work which is full of sweets and crisps . I keep saying to myself, I'll send this mail/make this phone call, then let my self have a packet of quavers..... then I'll go to the loo first, or install some S/W and eventually it's nearly home time and I feel so proud of myself for not having anything.

Sometimes I do have them though and then try not to feel all guilty and just go straight back to being good. That way I don't think 'Oh well I've had something bad, might as well give in'

HTH sorry it's so long...

Do you have your dress already??

BR

MUMINAMILLION · 05/10/2004 13:49

Thanks BR. I am going to try what you recommend - scrap the diets as they obviously are counter-productive for me. I do think I am one of those rebellious ones who will become obsessed by something if I am not allowed it!! I will try just cutting down, and the delay strategies too - all very good ideas.

No, I dont have my dress yet. I am NOT going to buy it the size I am just now. I want to wait until I have dropped a dress size, so I am feeling a little more hopeful now that I can do this. Thanks a million!!!

I don't "do" diets either but am relying on a mix of semi-healthy eating, exercise and breastfeeding to work.
scales have totally broken today. they stuck at 6 stone (far far too low) and then stuck at 16 stone (too high). guess I won't be able to post a weight this week then (an excuse to binge a bit )

bunnyrabbit · 07/10/2004 09:03

6 stone sounds good to me.. take a picture now!!

Oh and I've found that having dried fruit in my drawer at work is helpfull. It's healthy and tasty and is now part of my new healthy eating regime!! Apricots are pretty low in calories and figs aren't too bad, but as you only have a little bit (don't think my tummy could take much) most dries fruit works out OK.
