Can you CBT yourself into not over eating?

My weight issue is entirely down to eating too much, too frequently. I can't say it's necessarily emotional, its more a habit. I binge when I'm alone at home, especially if I have an evening alone at home. I love food but know that I don't love it when I've eaten a lot already, and I certainly don't enjoy the extra weight and constant thinking about eating that my habits leave me with. I had a few CBT sessions years ago which helped immensely, and so I really think CBT is the answer for me. I don't have the resources and time to do this again though, so I'm reading and listening to podcasts which are essentially CBT based approaches. I guess I'm after any success stories people have of working through this process without a therapist. Something to give me a bossy, and some confidence in myself to do it Smile

I used to have a real problem eating when I was at home alone. The 2 things that really helped me were using a Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) video to stop cravings . It sorted out my peanut M and Ms addiction instantly. I highly recommend trying it if one food is your Kryptonite. Secondly, I now really focus on the quality of the food I eat. Somehow its much easier to polish off a big bar of chocolate if it's cheap, than one that is better quality. Maybe it's because it costs more! I do not feel guilty about eating it though and I really try to focus on enjoying each mouthful. Hope this helps

Thank you @acornhealthcoaching I've just tried it so we'll see if it helps, but tbh it's not a particular food or craving that's a problem. I can overeat on anything Blush

Hope it helps you a bit then. I've personally found small steps the best way and gradually changed my eating habits overall by focusing on taking care of myself, but not banning stuff (except for the M and Ms!) 😊
