Please help - pre-dinner picking

Please help me with strategies to stop me losing and gaining the same 4kg over and over and over......,

Christmas and summer school holidays are times I gain anyway, I don’t see myself knocking that totally on the head. BUT, I need to sort the picking as that stops me losing and keeping it off the rest of the year. The evenings are fine, it’s between the dcs tea and my dinner time. They eat around 5.30 and I wait for dh to eat with him which is around 8.30. I know that is late, but I’ve recently been eating mine earlier which just means I swap the picking to after dinner instead Confused.

I eat healthily all day otherwise, just the times I stated I start on the nuts, oatcakes, ryvitas! And not one or two, the whole packets and handfuls of nuts. My brain just thinks sod it and away I go. I’m usually not even that hungry and celery doesn’t cut it.

I’m a size 14, which I’m not that bothered about I suppose, but is a tight 14 where loads of clothes don’t fit where I need to be a loose one in order to feel right.

Any tips?

Brush your teeth with a really strong toothpaste/rinse with strong mouthwash so that it all tastes wrong

Hmmm, good idea. I’ll try that tonight!

Hi stclair, I'm also a picker. I think I'm really hungry from the time I walk in the front door until I have the dinner ready within the hour and in that time could easily work my way through half a pack of biscuits, crackers, whatever. To stop myself from doing that, I prepare the dinner as soon as I get in and while I'm waiting for it to cook, I keep a jigsaw in the kitchen and work on that until the food is cooked to keep me away from picking - I find it keeps my mind busy so there's no room in my head for thinking about what I can snack on. I also do crosswords, word searches, knitting - anything really that keeps my mind busy so I don't have room in there to start thinking about food!

I have a 3 year old and 11 month and if I don’t eat with them i end up picking their leftovers so now I keep a bowl of cut up cucumber on the table and if I get the urge I have a bite of that.
