Waist measurement

What is considered a healthy waist measurement now? I thought it was no more than half your height, but the NHS website says 80 cm is an absolute limit for all women. I'm fairly tall, so this seems quite small to me. To get my waist down to 80 cm, I would probably need a BMI of less than 20.
Any thoughts?

Well...my waist is about 75cm, my BMI is 22. I am tall (not far off 6ft) so I would imaging that it would be about 80cm at the top end of the BMI healthy range. Generally a shorter woman would have a proportionally smaller waist so 80cm seems fairly reasonable..? Obviously that doesn't take into account different body shapes etc but I don't think it seems completely out there.

Hhmmm, my BMI is 'healthy' but I am still very high risk because my waist is 83 cm. It doesn't seem quite right to me. And if a shorter woman would have a proportionally smaller waist, as you say, why not use the 'half your height' rule I'd heard of previously?

I have a 37 inch waist at 5ft9 and am aiming for 34 which half my height so I'm sticking with that Grin

I got my GP to measure my height and I was 1cm shorter than I thought, so I had to redo all my calculations!

76cm (30 inches) at 5ft 5. Healthy BMI 22.4. Guessing that the maximum waist measurement I should have is 32ish.
