Body fat percentage

Posting for traffic. I’ve (foolishly) signed up for a six week boot camp challenge. You have to loose either 18lbs or 6% body fat percentage. I don’t think I can loose 18lbs and be able to maintain it so hoping for the 6%. My weight is 156lb and 41% body fat. Ive worked it out as 63.96lb body fat so 6% is 3.83lb to loose.
is that working out right or do you need to be loosing more weigh for body fat to decrease?
Sorry I’m rubbish at nutrition and exercise
Thanks if you got to the end

I think you have worked it out right- you weigh 156 and 41% of you is body fat. 6% of that weight is 3.83lb

If it's a hiit /bootcamp type challenge you will probably lose body fat but gain muscle and your weight may not change much

It seems a big difference between 18lbs or 6% fat though. Do you have much weight to lose? Could you realistically lose 18lb in 6 weeks?

Just found out that’s wrong I need to loose 15lb Shock

Good luck, lose not loose btw

Is it 6% of your body fat or 6% of your body weight?? That would make a difference!

To be fair though, you could reasonably lose a stone in 6 weeks if you eat really clean nutritious food, cut out sugar and do bootcamp

Is there a nutrition plan to go with the bootcamp?

How are they measuring the body fat %?

Scales are not wildly reliable on that front.

Bear in mind that you will likely lose some water weight and some lean body mass too. Heavy exercise will reduce the loss of lean body mass.

Also, I think your maths is off, assuming that they want you to go from 41% body fat to 35% body fat. That means losing 9.36lb.

But then you will weigh 146.64lb and even if all the weight you lost was fat, the fat remaining will weigh 54.6. Which puts you at 37% body fat, thus you have only lost 4%.

So in reality you will probably have to lose around a stone, I reckon. Which is tough in six weeks, but possibly do-able.

Thanks all, there us a nutrition plan which I am starting to get my head round and three hiit sessions a week.

What do you mean “have to”.

Bugger that, set yourself their target, but if you only lose 10lb rather than 14lb or whatever, that will still be a fantastic result worthy of huge celebration.

Do your best but don’t let them bully you. Brew
