Why do you want to lose weight?

A question to the floor, I'm curious as to why you want to lose weight?

I've fluctuated between a size 8-16, (this is down to emotional reasons break-ups, deaths in the family, baby weight etc.)

Now I want to lose weight to improve my confidence. What about you?

I started because the pain in my right shoulderblade that was seemingly worse in the evening after eating junk turned out to be gallstones rather than the muscle pain I told myself it was. Before that I had the mindset of I'm still young, the weight isn't bad for my health yet, ill lose it when I feel ready (i.e not now).
So I started eating low fat and feeling much better. I still have pain but it's not nearly as bad as it was when I spent every day living on junk. I've now lost 25 pounds and I'm starting to realise that I look much better. Now the vanity side is starting to feel on par with the health side and I spend a fair bit of time looking at outfit inspiration for when I've lost a few more pounds.

genuinely health and comfort. was taking psych meds for a long time that can lead to metabolic syndrome, most of the weight i gained went straight onto my torso, the worst place for it. was overheating in the summer and getting out of breath with stairs. down over 3 stone now and healthy bmi but waist measurement still on the high side. another stone to stone-and-a-half to hit my "fighting" weight.

Health, vanity and this: Ultimately I just want to stop thinking about my weight, it occupies too much of my thoughts.

What pisses me off is: how many of us have spent decades being unhappy about our weight and sporadically dieting, then putting it back on and more, and are still overweight? Arguably we shouldn't have bothered in the first place, and could have spent those decades eating fairly normally and without guilt, and just remained a little bit overweight as we are now. What was it all for?! The seesawing just wasted mental space, messed up our relationship with food and probably made us weigh more in the end than if we'd never dieted in the first place and instead just said 'Hey ho - I'm a little bit overweight but never mind!'. I wanted to buy clothes that weren't a sack that hides everything and to feel comfortable in my skin. I don't dive for cover when I see a camera now. There are virtually no pictures of me with my kids as babies.

i miss my old clothes...i dont even want to shop for new ones. If i lost weight i could "shop" for free in my own closet

Vanity first and foremost, I was sick of living in leggings and missed looking good in my jeans, I felt old and frumpy, even though I was only a few lbs overweight I felt I looked awful.

Joint pain, my knees hurt, my back ached, I felt stiff and uncomfortable, I've lost 19lbs and the knee pain has gone.

To get fitter, I couldn't run around with the kids at the park without being a sweaty mess.

To stop being hot and sweaty in the Summer, I really suffered the last few Summers being overweight.

Health, I'm not getting any younger and I want to try and avoid the ailments that can come with being overweight.

To set a good example to my children - self explanatory really.

I'm actually the lightest I've been since 2012 and I feel so much better for it, my clothes fit me, I feel healthier, more confidence, improved mental health. Ideally I'd like to lose another 9-10lbs to be satisfied which would put me right in the middle of my healthy weight.

Maintaining is the hard bit as we all know how easy it is to slip back into old ways.

Mostly for health.
Secondly I want to just look ok in any clothes rather than having to get changed 3 or 4 times because I look horrible.
