Weight loss tips

Pleeeeeease give me some realistic weight loss strategies!!!

I am hopeless at dieting (can you tell from my username?) because I'm a dreadful cook and have no imagination, knowledge or experience with healthy cooking. I try and get fruit and veg into my diet but it's very much part of a carb heavy, chocolate/cheese loving, wine swilling diet.

I am making big strides in cutting down on booze. I am also trying to get out and about walking more. At the minute I am a size 14 but I have terrible flab around my tummy area and bloating in my face. Also very paranoid about my bingo wings.

I'm not after a total overhaul I just need some practical tips for a busy working mum to fit into daily life to help me gradually get rid of this extra weight.

Try different food and veggies because finding ones you LIKE will help you incorporate more into your diet.

Also I would try looking at substitutions. Try sweet potato chips instead of regular chips. Things like that so you can incorporate new foods and healthy options without having to immediately go full force into a diet, and means less likely to feel deprived. I've found with diets the first week is easy but sticking to it is harder. So swapping in new stuff has definitely helped me eat better.

I also give myself challenges and rewards for meeting them (like a new outfit, spa massage, etc. something non-food that is a pamper treat) and that really motivates me to do well and helps to establish habits.

As far as being a dreadful cook with no imagination, knowledge or experience. If you can afford it, I highly recommend trying out a service like Gousto. I did for a while and the recipes were easy to follow, yummy and it helped me lots of different things to learn what I like and now I have go to recipes. If not, you could try cookbooks or the internet by picking an ingredient or two and googling that plus recipe to see what you can find.

I'm not very good at moderation, and so actually fasting twice a week (eating ~500 calories in a day) works well for me, and it's "only for a day" which means I can have the chocolate tomorrow.

If you like cooking, treat yourself to a decent cookbook like Pinch of Nom. Remember, you only have to create a calorie deficit, and it doesn't really matter how you do this, you can be as unconventional as you like.
