Has anyone undertaken something similar? And, if so, how did you do it?

I keep putting it off but I now need to bite the bullet and focus.

My sister recommends Exante and has given me some shakes and bars. My SIL recommends 5:2 and calorie counting. A friend swears by juicing and 'clean' eating.

Ive got very confused as to what to go for, but I need to make a decision very soon! Hmm

I'm thinking of a month on each. Is that feasible? Or too 'bitty'?

For context, the weight has piled on over last 2 years due to menopause, health issues and downright piggery.🐷

Help!!

@Redshoesandtheblues How's the diet going so far?

Redshoesandtheblues · 11/07/2019 11:56

It's not, Constance!

Its akin to a coughing and spluttering old knackered car, stopping and starting and getting nowhere fast.

Im trying to get into a more positive mindset, so I can compare it to a car that actually has the capacity to get from A to B and not just limp lamely along.

I told a friend, who ive not seen for years, how much weight I've put on and she was 'disgusted'. Blush

I felt very embarrassed.

Well - how nice to hear that you have such supportive friends! Grrr. Not saying that she should have been pleased, but still.

Good luck with the weight loss. I agree with those who have pointed out that a crash diet is not sustainable long term. I have done many of those in my life. What has worked for me, this time, is the 16:8 approach, combined with food logging and calorie counting and pretty much daily fairly intense exercise (usually weights, with some HIIT cardio). That said, I think that a crash diet has its place if you have a fair chunk of weight to lose and want the motivation of a fast initial loss. However it is hard (it was for me, at least) to escape resentment at the privations, the odd cheat treat turning into a cheat week, and to find a way of easing into a sustainable plan. The less you weigh the fewer calories you need to sustain that, and that is what trips people up. They go back to their old ways and the weight piles back on.
