Has anyone actually used slimfast successfully? Or is it a fad of the 80's. Surely it contains everything you need so is a bit like a protein shake?

I am currently using it just for lunchtimes to get me into the swing of doing the Fast 800.

Lunchtime is the hardest for me. I don't mind not doing breakfast and just having a small tassimo machine cappuccino, but lunchtimes at work I am just lured into buying sandwiches, even if I bring in a tin of soup I find I get to lunchtime and think 'I don't fancy soup' or if it's warm. With this it takes away the option factor and I know exactly how many calories is in it, plus I like the taste of a couple. I don't feel bloated either.

Don't get me wrong, I realise there are A LOT more nutritious lunches for the same calories but for short term anyway, this is suiting me fine and means I can cook a decent low-carb meal at night as I do love cooking and not obsess about how many calories are in my evening meal as I know I have a decent amount to play with. Once I've done a week or 2 on this I'll move into bringing my own lunches in. It makes sense in my head anyway and time will tell if it works (and I stick to it)!

Thanks @supercee. I am the same as you, lunchtime is just too much of a temptation to get all the things I shouldn't eat. Even a good quality sandwich if shop bought is laden with calories. That's why I was thinking if I swap it out for a Slim fast even just for lunch it would help get the calories down. I love my food and don't Want to feel like I'm missing out all the time.

Can I ask what time you have it? And when do you then eat your dinner?

Yeah my work is surrounded by amazing sandwich shops and even the ones marked healthy I know I'll end up getting crisps or something to go with it.

My job is sedentary so I have my coffee whilst going to work about 8, try and last until 12.30/1pm, go for a 20 minute walk then have the slim fast and aim to have a lower carb dinner about 6ish. I go to bed pretty early and don't have anyone to worry about feeding etc. Then in bed fairly early. When I feel the pangs I've been drinking more water or lemon and ginger tea. I know it doesn't seem like a lot but I'm being pretty strict initially after far too long in a carb (and alcohol) haze, need to get things started quickly Grin

*feeding anyone

Bubblysqueak · 20/06/2019 22:41

I'm using it just for lunchtime as I have a dairy allergy and find it a faff to prepare anything for work. I've been using the vegan ones and they taste really good. In the 5 days I've been using them I've lost 1.5kg.(sounds more impressive than 3lbs) which I think is great as it's been so easy. I've just made sure to use mfp to track breakfast and evening calories to make sure I don't do over the mfp recognised limit for.my weight loss goal.

supercee · 20/06/2019 22:53

I'd be happy with a 3lb loss in 5 days @Bubblysqueak well done!

It's the no faff factor here too. Basically, this is what you're having for lunch, end of. That doesn't have the same effect when it comes to sandwiches, soups etc. There's still choice and as my stomach would prove I'm not the best choice maker Confused

Bubblysqueak · 21/06/2019 06:44

I'm definitely not complaining! In my head though,.I remember those 1kg weights from school and they just seem heavier than lbs to me even though it's exactly the same
