Hey guys
Is it possible to loose weight when pregnant
I'm actually very overweight I'm 90kg and I'm expecting. I was wondering if anyone has lost weight while at being pregnant and what they did. I'm only 6 weeks at the moment and it's a big concern for me.
My husband even said to me today that he is worried about my weight it did really make me feel shit and upset.
Any advice would be really helpful.
Thank you x

Hi @saltandvinegar1 firstly - congrats!

I can't give you first hand advice but I'd definitely recommend talking to your GP/midwife about your weight concerns when you have your booking in appointment. They will want to weigh you anyway so will maybe bring it up then.

If I were you I would just make sure to be eating very healthily 3 times a day and being as active as possible. So lots of a walking, swimming, yoga etc. Though I believe Weight Watchers do a pregnancy diet too. Cut out fizzy drinks and anything that might increase your risk of gestational diabetes too.

I think there's a thread for bigger pregnant women on Mumsnet somewhere so I'm sure they will have lots of advice and support for you. Sorry I don't have the link.

Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

@FlatPackPat ah thank you for your reply... it's going to be my second child. The gp did weight me but his reaction was so normal
And he didn't say anything. I guess the midwifes will. I will just eat super healthy. Plus I have a little girl who should keep me on my toes x

Hi Salt, I was a bit heavier than you during my last pregnancy, 14st 7 (I'm 5'5") and nothing was made of it by any of the healthcare providers. I decided I was going to try to lose weight, joined SW and had to get my midwifes approval, but swiftly gave that up because, well, SW is shite. But I never gained a lb during that pregnancy anyway, it was odd.
Anyway, rambling. I think at 90kg you don't need to feel like some gigantic person, as long as everything else with your pregnancy is normal, in the UK you're still on track for midwife led

saltandvinegar1 · 23/05/2019 22:50

@IDrinkAndISewThings
Ah you made me feel better! I was feeling so sad: I hope not to gain any weight this time. Ok great I'm waiting for my midwife app. I guess it was more of my husbands comment and his disappointment towards me. That really hurt my feelings. I'm not going to lie no one would ever guess I weight that much. To look at I don't look like I weigh that much. I'm just going to try eat healthy and not stress too much. Did the midwifes give you any help or "advice".

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Just cut out the sugar and junk food, eat well for three meals a day, with lots of vegetables and your weight will sort itself out.

IDrinkAndISewThings · 24/05/2019 19:49

Nah, no advice, but equally they didn't give a hoot that I was bigger, I guess in the grand scheme of things that make pregnancy and labour risky being a bit fat isn't such a big deal

DianaT1969 · 24/05/2019 19:59

No advice, but would you say there are any particular foods that you eat more than you probably should? I would start there if I were you and stay active. Nothing too drastic. Congratulations 💐

HappyMama01 · 24/05/2019 20:10

Congrats my lovely!

From someone who weighed a lot more than yourself, I didn't gain a pound in my pregnancy (literally no idea how😂) but there we go! Sometimes it happens.

I wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy. Thanks

saltandvinegar1 · 25/05/2019 01:07

I lost about 26kg when I was pregnant the last time. In fact, all my pregnancies were great for weight loss.

I kept active and ate well and the weight dropped off as baby got bigger. Every pregnancy I've had I walked out of the hospital weighing less than when I fell pregnant.

Congratulations and all the best!

saltandvinegar1 · 26/05/2019 01:41

@CJsGoldfish thank you so much for sharing it really has helped make me feel better and boosted my mood xxx
