How much could I lose if I stick to 1200-1400 calories a day?

I'm female, 40, 5'6" and 11stone 6. I'd love to get under 11 stone in the next 3 weeks. I'm so disappointed that I've tipped over 11stone. I'd love to lose more but I know I few more comfortable at 11stone than I am now.

I have an ankle injury which means I've had to stop the exercising I was doing at home so more exercise is out of the question.

I've cut out snacks and having normal portion sizes and trying to cut back on the nightly glass of wine.

How much could I expect to lose if I stick to 1200-1400 calories and calorie count?

Low carb high fat. I'm not surprised you're hungry!

You need to eat less calories. That’s all there is to it.

Modern science says otherwise.

MrsTerryPratchett · 15/04/2019 21:32

It’s easy to lose weight low carbing it isn’t easy to keep it off and it makes for a life of dull samey food.

Not what the studies say.

I'd rather eat buttery spinach with a steak and blue cheese than weetabix but horses for courses.

BentNeckLady · 15/04/2019 21:33

We’ll so would I but not for breakfast.

I love prawn cocktail for breakfast.

Don’t fall into the cereal manufacturers’ clutches!

MoreSlidingDoors · 15/04/2019 21:51

(I don’t eat till gone 2pm)

carrottopper · 15/04/2019 22:14

What is a low carb breakfast then? I thought weetabix and porridge would be good, healthy, high fibre options which aren't too bad calorie wise.

Eggs.

If you were actually going to properly low carb (there's a boot camp starting here in May) you could have eggs, butter, smoked salmon, cream cheese, prosciutto, vegetables, all kinds of stuff. You can't add these to a high carb diet or you'll eat way too much.

I had, today, omelette fried in butter with spinach, lamb chop and mushrooms for lunch and spirallized courgettes with cream sauce and fish fillet for dinner. Loads of water. Not hungry.

But if you're just low-cal, eggs for breakfast.

carrottopper · 15/04/2019 22:36

I was going to have eggs for lunch. Veg soup would be low cal wouldn't it? I could have that for lunch

You need protein though. Are you vegetarian?

Walnutwhipster · 15/04/2019 22:44

I can't exercise but maintain on 1300 calories a day. I know that exactly because I'm fed through a JEJ, so you might not lose anything.

sleepyhead · 15/04/2019 22:46

Veg soup isnt very filling so it can be tempting to snack.

How about a minestrone style soup with tomatoes and other veg, add canellini beans or similar and top with a decent grating of parmesan.

Still pretty low calorie but lots of fibre and some protein from the beans.

Have some full fat greek yog and fruit for afters.

I found that roughly following the 20% protein, 30% fat, 50% carb proportions over a day worked well for me and I felt full.

carrottopper · 15/04/2019 22:46

I'm not veggie but I don't really like red meat. I eat fish and chicken mostly.

carrottopper · 15/04/2019 22:47

Yes I can add beans to it. Thanks

Farmers use oats to fatten up pigs. ;)

sleepyhead · 15/04/2019 22:54

I like veg chilli or chickpea & spinach curry for lunch. I have a wholemeal pita instead of rice.

carrottopper · 16/04/2019 11:01

I thought porridge was a healthy option. I've had porridge with skimmed milk, raspberries and blueberries. Coffee and a tea. MFP calculates that at 297 calories. I have 918 calories left today.

Any suggestions for lunch and dinner? I have spinach, lettuce, eggs, minestrone soup (133 calories 1/2 a pot) or veg soup (196 calories per 1/2 pot)

For dinner, I need something which suits the family. I have chicken breasts in and Heck chicken Sausages. I was going to use them with veg and give the family pittas so they can have chicken pittas. So chicken breast or chicken sausage for me with veg. Which would be best?

Generally speaking the less messed around with something is the better.
