Sorting out your eating via therapy

Anyone done this? I’ve just started seeing a therapist with the aim of building a healthier relationship with food.

Hopefully the money I’m spending on it will be recouped by buying fewer baked goods in future. Grin

I tried hypnotherapy for weight loss eight years ago. I had always struggled with my weight and was always roughly 3-4 stone overweight. I was expecting miracles and though I would see immediate results so I was initially disappointed when that didn’t happen however, from them onwards my attitude to eating completely changed and I found it much easier to control my diet and keep my weight in a healthy range. I feel so much better about myself and I don’t feel a victim of my own appetite. While my weight has fluctuated since then it is always only within a few pounds and I have never been overweight since.
What I am trying to say is go for it but don’t expect it to be a magic wand. Good luck with it!

Thanks! Good to hear you had success with it. This would be psychotherapy rather than hypnotherapy, which I’m hoping may yield long term change. Certainly dieting doesn’t suit me, at any rate.

I’m not looking to be skinny, and I don’t have a target weight, I just don’t want to be as emotionally invested in food.
