Confused about my weight?

I don't even know the point in posting this but ... I am 9 weeks pregnant and had my weigh in with the midwife at 8 weeks. I am 5'4 and apparently 11 stone 3 pounds. Which puts my BMI at 26.7, meaning I'm overweight. I've struggled ALOT with my weight during my teenage years developing EDNOS and body dysmorphic disorder. I recovered mostly from my EDNOS and was at my skinniest before I got pregnant with my first child two years ago, I had just got under 10 stone when I had her, which I was thrilled about as I couldn't get under 10 stone. I can't remember how much I weighed when I had her. However, I go to the gym 3 times, maybe 4 times a week and do a good work out which lasts around 1 hour to an hour and a half. I'm careful with what I eat but I don't restrict myself as to not allow myself to fall back into old patterns. And I'm just confused as to how I am 11.3. I was really shocked, AIBU to be confused and shocked at how I'm classed as over weight? I'm a size 8/10 in tops and 10-12 in bottoms dependant on the shop, I'm just confused 😂

Muscle mass will probably account for some of it. Muscle is more dense than fat and therefor you can look slimmer whilst still being heavier (I am always shocked by threads where women weigh 1, 2 or even 3 stone less than me, are a similar height and wear larger dress sizes but I’m athletic and have a low body fat percentage and high muscle percentage). You also retain quite a lot of water in early pregnancy.

As a midwife I would honestly be thrilled to be booking someone with a nice low risk BMI (a BMI of less than 30 is shown to have no risk implications for pregnancy).

@Thatsnotmyotter completely forgot about water retention! But yes it did shock me, she said my BMI was fine but obviously I had a look myself and couldn't believe I'm classed as overweight. I definitely do have some wobbly bits and I'm not the thinnest or fittest I could be, I'm curvy but definitely wouldn't say overweight. I'm not concerned as my midwife was happy but just shocked about it, it seems like a high weight for me x
