Weight loss within normal range, what works?

At 73kg, 173cm my bmi is at the upper end. I’ve always been about 10kg less, but the last child weight has been harder to loose (probably a combination of age and being a SAHM).

What have people found works in this weight range?

I’m a small frame and I look heavier than you’d imagine, particularly in the middle. For context I weight more than any of the times I went in to have birth, bmi aside it’s not the right weight for me. I’m a size 10 trouser, but a size 14 or more for the top.

So far I’ve just tried to improve the volume I eat and move more, I’ve made about 7-8kg down but I’m stuck. I gained the weight very rapidly last year after a neurological diagnosis’s

For me, it's cutting out the crap. Specifically sugary cakey crap. I'm less hungry without it, saving on calories twice over.

And on top of that, portion control. I don't really change my meals very much at all, if I need to rein in after a period of overindulgence, but I use my fitness pal to calorie count, anyhow, as numbers can't be argued with and I'm less tempted to help myself to a late night piece of pork pie (unless I'm genuinely hungry, of course)

use a scale and measure portions properly for at least a week while you relearn real portion sizes for all your standard food stuff.

No processed foods, very little sugar intake, and become religious about portion sides and counting calories. It is very very easy to grossly underestimate how many calories you're taking in.

Portion control is definitely one to think about yes. Thanks

Just cutting calories really. If you're within the healthy range it's quite possible you don't overeat only that you're eating the wrong things or that you're eating quite healthy, but too much of it, while I'd expect someone who've overweight to be doing both. That's why I'm not sure 'cutting the crap' would work as you might already not be eating too much crap. I also don't see the need to cut out processed food, unless you want to for other health issues. What works for me generally is counting calories with estimates in my head.

Find out how many calories you need to be eating and aim for that.
