Exercise with toddler and why are the Middletons so skinny

How do you exercise with a toddler ? At 2.5 I'm finding it hard to keep him in his pram walking for too long and feel guilty making him sit for too long.

On another note, how are affluent women like Kate Middleton SO thin. I live in a fairly affluent neighbourhood and I feel like the only person with baby weight. I know the obvious is nannies and chefs but I still don't understand how it is possible to be that thin.

Feeling defeated.

As per pps, it is down to what and how much you eat. I put on weight easily so have to disciplined about what I eat. I don't need a chef to cook for me, I know what I can and can't eat.
I was already slim before my two pregnancies, have always exercised ( I enjoy exercise and sport).
And do not eat for two when pregnant. There is no need to.
KM was very sick throughout each pregnancy and i'm sure she exercises as she enjoyed sport too. PM has always been heavily into sports so I'm sure she's also pretty educated when it comes to food and cooking.
It's not rocket science.

How do I fit in? My ex has the children 3 nights a month. Yes, a month. This is what I do.

I work 3 days a week.

Monday and Wednesday 6.30am I go for 45 min run. Both children asleep. I text my upstairs neighbour when i leave, she comes down and makes herself a coffee and then heads back up as I walk in the door. I live on ground floor flat, she lives above me. I pay her £5 a week for these two mornings. The children sleep for the duration.

Friday I run after drop off so no childcare required.

Sunday I run with a friend and her husband has the children whilst we run. I always buy I’m a coffee to say thanks!

I do yoga on a Monday and Wednesday. After drop off. (I don’t start work on Mondays until midday). When the children are with their father I also do yoga on a Saturday.

So 4 runs. 2 - 3 yogas.

Food is a lot of organic fruit, veg, chicken, salmon, avocados etc.

I think sleep and tiredness plays a huge part. I am only just getting back into running regularly and eating more healthily. When I was getting no sleep and working full time I just couldn't cope with minimal food and exercise on top of everything else. I find it much easier to be disciplined about not snacking after 7 hours sleep rather than 4. I think if I didn't work and had a support network I'd have found it easier to get back into my size 10 jeans a lot sooner. I'm getting there but slowly...I'm also mid 40s which doesn't bloody help!

I guess fat people are undisciplined. That’s probably why they are more likely to be poor too, right? They just can’t get it together Hmm

I’ll tell you how I lost the baby weight .... I have a full-time nanny/maid. I’m lucky and know it.

Sure, some are able to prioritise weight loss, but if you are struggling to find time for showering, I hardly think you have mental space for much else.

Being rich makes everything easier. It doesn't mean it's impossible to be thin if you're poor, or that wealth prevents every single misfortune in life. But it's a massive help in dealing with most things.

Sorry yes it does help enormously if you don't have 3 jobs to juggle and a huge amount of stress going in in your life. Not sure being 'rich' is the main factor per se though ..

I think the 'discipline' thing does come into it if you have made being slim a priority. I suppose having money means that it is easier for it to be a priority. If you have worries about paying the bills then other things are going to be a priority and your own health is more likely to take a back seat.

These poor women are under constant scrutiny and will be pounced upon by the media if they put on so much as an ounce. I would imagine that makes it easier to say no to the custard creams, but I’m not sure I consider it a privilege.

Thanks @kikipost maybe I need to feel less guilty about asking people to watch DD while I exercise. So do you work 3 days a week but both kids are at school full-time?

What do people think of squeezing lots of exercise in one day or is that a bad idea? I've recently rearranged my hours at work so I can have one day off while DD is at school. There is a yoga class near my house after drop off, could obviously squeeze in a run, could then do a few lengths while I take DD to her swimming lesson and there's an aerobics style class near my house in then evening which DH would most likely be back in time for

Can't go out of the house in the morning but instead of using this as an excuse I should just go in the living room and do some exercise videos on YouTube.

I do think there's something about it partly being due to your natural body shape as well. Ectomorph, endomorph, etc.

My PT says I will never make a good runner as I'm naturally short and stocky (he says the same about himself) but that I was built for weight lifting! Cheered me up no end, not! Grin

I read once palace aides said Kate Middleton exercises for an hour each day (and eats very little, I'm guessing)

I personally have three kids, one in school. I don't have the time or energy yet to dedicate to regular exercise but I ditched the car recently and walk them to and from school which is something at least, though not much.

I think, having your every move displayed in the Daily Mail would be a massive deterrent to overeat. Also priorities. I’m childless and have load of free time. I usually go to the pub rather than the gym which, in turn, means I make bad food choices.

I work 3 days and children at school until 3.30.

I take the children to school. I have a nanny pick up 2x a week until 6pm, on those two days I am generally in London. On the third day, they both have after school clubs, and j pick them up after at 5pm.

So I have a full on life, but I manage to squeeze in a lot of exercise, which is important to both my mental and physical health.

You suggestion of squeezing all in to one day does not sound enjoyable, sustainable or healthy.

Kate's job is basically to be thin and look good. She is good at it.

I have a professional job which I am good at too.

Kate's nannies, chef, housekeeper, etc facilitate her job. I have a cleaner and a nursery.

Weight is primarily about food not exercise. It really is a case a willpower. I've been fat and very thin (currently on the blood sugar diet and have lost a stone since new year). I am wondering why I let it get this bad. I'm upper middle (if there is such a thing) and I'm currently unusually fat. Most exercise excessively.

Lean rather than skinny though I've noticed it seems to be quite fashionable right now to have skinny legs! Both Duchesses have those, no meat on the pins that I can see.

Carol Middleton is appropriately rounded, not too much, just enough and age appropriate.

Kate and Pippa are tall young women and both look very fit and healthy. They are quite sporty and into exercise.
