Waist to hip ratio

Anyone else have a high waist to hip ratio despite having a healthy BMI? My BMI is 23 but I have the proportions of a 16 year old boy, 36-30-36. When I was younger and slimmer my hips were smaller too, not just my waist, so I'm not sure if it's a problem or not.

Yes. I suppose I'm a bit 'straight up and down'. It My BMI is similar to yours, but my waist size means I'm close to the diabetes risk.

I was having this conversation today.
I lose weight off my arms and waist first, and never my bum and hips.
Right now my waist is 34 and hips are 44! Blush

I used to be figure type 'stick' when I was young, now I'm in my fifties with a healthy BMI but figure type 'planck' - the ratio is not good, but my GP sees no problem.

"I lose weight off my arms and waist first"

Arms is interesting. I rarely look at my arms in the winter so I probably wouldn't even notice.

Glad it's not just me! I bought some bathroom scales for the first time in years and my BMI is actually 22, I'm curious to see if the ratio will actually go down if I lose weight, or if I will just lose it from everywhere.
