Mummy tummy - what to do?

Just gone back to work after a long mat leave with dc2 and went to a coffee shop I hadn’t been to for ages with a new colleague. Waiter recognized me and said as I was paying ‘oh so baby number 2 is on the way then?’. Colleague didn’t know where to look when I said ‘no, he’s 18 months old’.

Felt mortified and sad; was pleased to be wearing what I thought to be a nice flattering dress, which I hadn’t worn for a long time. Clearly it’s not flattering!

I weigh 55 kilos and am 164cm so far from overweight but my stomach is just totally ruined from two big babies.

I’ve tried diastis recti exercises but they haven’t really worked. Eat pretty well and walk quite a lot. Weigh less than I did when I got pregnant with dc2 so pretty disheartened.

Anyone have any tips of what to do? Or what clothes to wear to avoid looking pg?!

Thanks Smile

I wish people would leave the 'when's the baby due?' comments until women are very obviously about to give birth. Stupid comment from waiter, hope he's learnt his lesson.

As for tummy help - these are super comfortable and smooth everything out & there is a shorter version you can wear with tops and trousers too:

In terms of sorting it - if you've got diastis recti you need to be very careful with exercises (I'm an ex PT) - but might be worth finding a recommendation for a Pilates instructor with post-natal qualifications, that can really help retrain your abdominal muscles - but only when you are ready.

Meanwhile ignore stupid comments - I'm sure you look fab!

Sounds silly but there are some Pilates for diastasis recti videos on YouTube. My midwife recommended Pilates as the best way to get the muscles to go back to where they should be, but there are no classes for miles in my area so I looked on YouTube instead for help

Thanks those bravissimo things look good! Will have a look at Pilates. It’s finding the time now I’m back at work! Sounds mad but I feel like I never have a second to myself (which is why walking is good as at least I can do that with the pushchair!).
