New year, new me. No alcohol or yummy things or carbs. Calorie counting, extra exercise and I've started yoga. I've put on weight. What is the point. I'm hungry, sad and fat.

Hi. I think if you cut out EVERYTHING you enjoy, you'll fail as it's not sustainable and will make you angry and resentful. I've put another thread on here today about my own weight gain so I do have an understanding of how hard it is long term. I think you need to find a plan/method that suits you first and foremost. Also, a tip from me is to "bargain" with yourself when making decisions around food and to stop and think carefully. For example, someone offers you a biscuit at work. Stop and think, would I rather have that biscuit now OR a glass of wine later? OR grated cheese on my bolognese for dinner? Stop and visualise the wine or the cheese or whatever. THEN decide if you want the biscuit. Thinking like this helped me sustain a 5 stone weight loss for over 10 years so it may be beneficial for you. Best wishes op, I truly know how hard it is.

Cutting carbs isn't healthy. A balanced diet has a little of every food group and carbs are needed for energy. They probably give your metabolism a good luck too!

Move more, eat a little less and stop restricting. It's the only way for long term benefit.

You have only been doing it for a maximum of 12 days. That is nothing. You didn't get fat in 12 days. Being slim is not something that can be achieved in a few days! It's a lifestyle and lifetime deal. So just make changes that are sustainable and keep to them. It will happen.

You could well be counting the calories wrong. Not counting the odd mouthful here and there. Or you need fewer calories.

I started dieting at 12:6. After a week it went as high as 12:9 and now I’m down to 12:4

Keep going, it will pay off soon!
