Hate myself!

I’ve put on. a huge amount of weight in the last couple of years. I think it stems to both my parents dying from cancer in the last 3 years - one died and then months later found out the other was dying too. Had a horrendous time! I’ve been self medicating on alcohol, sugar, crap food and I no longer recognise myself when I look in the mirror.

I was -at worst- a 12-14 (5’ 7”) so was comfortable at that size. I am currently size 18 and I hate my boobs, belly etc.

I am not looking for a quick fix, and have found I always low carb worked for me in the past. I think I’ll be able to give up the sugar, but I can’t manage without some kind of bread in the morning as I love eggs for breakfast too.

What would be some other good ways of getting healthier? I had kombucha the other day which I really liked. Sorry for the ramble - crap night’s sleep again and just want to sort myself out.

Yes Beela For lunch today I had 2 eggs in a nest of spinach and mushrooms. No carbs, I had some spelt bread with supper, my onion soup!

I like eggs and smoked salmon, I like scrambled egg too. Will see how I get on with the malted granary bread - they’re only small slices anyway.

Never had spelt bread so will track that down.

Urgh...I have a detox headache: over 24 hours without refined sugar and no alcohol since Thursday night. Other than that, I feel good not having a hangover and made some seeded granary bread this morning to go with chicken soup for lunch made for last night’s leftovers.

I had my avocado and eggs this morning (with granary bread). I think I will get myself off the alcohol and sugar first, then tackle the bread! I’m not fussed about pasta and will have sweet or new potatoes instead of regular starchy ones.

Well done for making a positive change, but your language worries me slightly. You can’t “hate” yourself into a version of you that you love.

What are your positive reasons for change - why are you worth investing in your health? What are the benefits?

ppeatfruit · 06/01/2019 12:09

Have you tried taking a nettle supplement? They are good for headaches, very brave to cut out sugar completely!!

WhatNow40 · 06/01/2019 13:12

All that food sounds delish! I love poached eggs...

@ppeatfruit I became disabled 6-7 yrs ago and the weight has piled on since then. I have a connective tissue disorder = chronic pain, fatigue, frequent joint dislocations plus all sorts of other odd things like anaemia, zinc and B12 deficient, calcium deficiency. I have so many minor things I forget them until they crop up as a problem. It just makes it so hard to lose any weight.

ppeatfruit · 06/01/2019 13:40

That's a shame, have you tried eating in a particular way? E.G.removing high acid forming foods from your diet like pork and red meats, vinegar, pickles etc.? (sorry if you have, I have studied eating for health and like to help people).

WhatNow40 · 06/01/2019 22:06

@ppeatfruit I've not tried it in that way no. But I did spend 4 months eating vegan on 1200 cals a day. I put on weight. I hoped it would level out so didn't weigh myself for a month and put on 7lbs. I was eating mainly vegetables but I think a bit too much fruit. Although the cals were low, the sugar was quite high.

ppeatfruit · 07/01/2019 10:11

Did it help your health ? The thing is most foods are good for SOME people but the same could be bad for other people. Foods like tomatoes and aubergines and oranges oh and potatoes, give me reflux, eczema and arthritis! A lot of people are good with them.

Fruit needs to be eaten on an empty stomach (never straight after a meal) for health and to stop weight gain. That makes a lot of difference to health and weight!

ppeatfruit · 07/01/2019 10:13

Sorry for repeating myself!! Blush

WhatNow40 · 08/01/2019 08:00

That's ok, I get it! I've done my Week 1 weigh in, I've lost 8lbs!! I'm really pleased but also know I've only lost this much because I'm fat as fuck to start with.

How is everyone else doing?

ppeatfruit · 08/01/2019 08:05
